    Le texte part d'une réflexion sur le rapport immanent aux paroles entre les termes "local" et "global", puisque chaque mot occupe un lieu particulier dans une phrase tout en participant de la nature transmissive de la communication. De plus, chaque phrase dite véhicule un sens qui présuppose un dire en acte qui, lui, ne saurait être dit. L'attention qui réunit ces deux modalités linguistiques qualifie entre autres le langage poétique, lequel ouvre sur une temporalité non-chronologique et une spatialité qui rend compte de l'espace entre les langues, domaine propre à la traduction. Les technologies digitales, notamment l'internet, sont en mesure de réaliser le rêve utopique d'une communication immatérielle. Ainsi entrent-elles dans une certaine mesure en concurrence avec la poésie (voire p.ex. le mythe d'Orphée ou "la Divine Comédie"). Avant de procéder à une analyse d'un poème du poète autrichien Franz Josef Czernin, dans laquelle Baschera se penche sur la différence entre ces deux approches, il attire l'attention sur celle existant entre les termes de globalisation et mondialisation.

    The article examines the textile trace that constitutes the spatial system and narrative of Gottfried Keller's "Regine"-novella (1881). Keller’s novella can be read as an example of a shift that takes place in the literary use of textiles in the nineteenth century. Until then textiles in literature - such as the veil or the weave - were mostly of metaphorical importance. Interlaced with socio-economical changes in production, distribution and consumption of textiles, this changed toward a more material approach. In a close reading of the novella, the article shows how Keller explores und undermines the suggestive and imaginative potential of fabrics while expounding the figures' struggle with the sheer materiality of their surroundings.

    "Königliche Hoheit", Thomas Mann's second novel, is as replete with descriptions of interiors, paintings, decorations and other spatial features as it is obsessed with the very concept of 'representation'. The complex interplay of 'space' and 'signification' that underlies this text has not received much scholarly attention. This paper attempts to elucidate how "Königliche Hoheit" interweaves descriptions of space(s) and thorny semiotic issues. In the process, it seeks to show that the novel, far from being a harmless 'fairytale' grounded in Mann's own biography, is suffused with exclusionary ideology.
