    Der vorliegende Aufsatz versteht sich als Versuch, den Lexikon-Roman von Okopenko vorzustellen und auf die innovatorischen Züge hinsichtlich seiner Form hinzuweisen. The article introduces the novel "Lexikon-Roman" by the Ukrainian-Austrian avant-garde writer Andreas Okopenko (1930–2010). With his lexicon novel, Andreas Okopenko presented a literary experiment almost 50 years ago that remains unique to this day. The main storyline follows the chemical merchant J. on his Danube ship trip to an exporter meeting, with the narrative concentrating only peripherally on the happenings during the trip. Instead, the protagonist's thoughts are being externalized. Both the stations on the ship's route and in the mental world of the protagonist serve as nodes that refer to further entries in the lexicon. This creates countless opportunities for the reader to follow different paths or even to skip the main storyline entirely and immerse only in the metanarration. The interweaving of the text, organized by individual references, is typical of the digital hypertext developed two decades later, which is why Okopenko is recognized as the "pioneer of hypertext" to the present day.

    Oswald Wiener wird in der Forschung in zweifacher Hinsicht wahrgenommen, er bewegt sich sowohl auf dem Gebiet der Literatur als auch parallel auf dem der Wissenschaften. In der Ankündigung zum Oswald-Wiener-Symposium von 2009 heißt es bezeichnenderweise: "Oswald Wiener hat mit seinem Weg vom Schriftsteller zum Wissenschaftler die Entwicklung der Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts mitgeprägt." Wiener selbst beschreibt seine spezifische Zweifaltigkeit an einer Stelle entsprechend: "Meine sonst ziemlich diversen Publika haben meist den Dichter eher als den Denker erwartet". Diese faktische Personalunion ist für eine verlässliche Verortung des Dichters in dem einen und/oder anderen Diskurs nicht unbedingt förderlich, doch wenn es darum geht, Interdiskursivität als Phänomen auszuleuchten, bieten sich Werke von Oswald Wiener gerade an, in breiteren Zusammenhängen und auf bestimmte Aspekte hin untersucht zu werden. Oswald Wiener is perceived in two ways, he is versed both in the field of literature and at the same time in the field of science. It has become established to speak of experiment in relation to Wiener's literary work. In the following, the experimental aspects are worked out using the example of the novel "die verbesserung von mitteleuropa" from 1969. The "novel" stands between science and literature, it is an attempt to unite, and at the same time a denunciation of both: the "novel" is (pseudo-)scientific, science appears as a novel. We are dealing with a work that is located in an intermediate area between the avant-garde language experiment, the philosophical experiment and the scientific experiment. The aim is to show how special scientific knowledge can be literarized and what effects this literarization can have on the reception of the work.

    This paper presents some results from a wider study which aims to define the features of German medical textbooks from a diachronic perspective. The medical textbook is presented here as a genre-class (Textsortenklasse) subsuming all texts written for didactic purposes in the field of medicine, i.e. texts aiming to present the theoretical and practical background required in this particular specialist professional field. Since the lingua franca of academic communication was Latin until the 18th century, the corpus used for this study mainly comprises surgery textbooks. The paper focuses solely on structural aspects of textbooks, seeking to show how these aspects functionally contribute to the realization of the general textual function and thereby constitute a historically established conventionalized scheme underlying genres. However, a thorough and effective description of a genre-class requires a much more extensive approach including more interrelated levels of analysis.

    Clothing plays an important role in the tragedy 'König Ottokars Glück und Ende' by the Austrian dramatist Franz Grillparzer - however, this role has not yet been adequately explored. Coats, jackets, helmets and garters are not mere props in the play; sometimes they are elevated to the level of symbols which can (and indeed must) be interpreted. Two types of garment play a particularly important symbolic role: Emperor Rudolf's grey jacket (jerkin) and King Ottokar's gold-embroidered coat. The King's coat is a symbol of his power and authority, yet it also evokes his alienation from his Bohemian subjects. It can also be interpreted as an allusion to the French Emperor Napoleon, whose features are clearly transferred into the figure of Ottokar.

    The topic of this paper is legal language and its integration into the teaching process in the training of translators working in the language combination German / Slovak; this area of didactics is relatively unexplored in Slovakia. The main aim of the study is to emphasize the importance of developing professional translation competence as part of translator training, as this competence is of significant assistance when creating content-correct translations. Based on an analysis of student translations, the article lists the most common problems encountered when translating legal texts, mainly related to the use of incorrect translation strategies.
