    The purpose of this paper is to analyze the configurations of history and memory in some works of Christa Wolf, relating these with the historical period that culminated with the downfall of the Berliner Wall in 1989 and with the end of the socialist regime in the former German Democratic Republic. Taking into account Aleida Assmanns studies on culture of memories, we intend to verify aspects related to the limits and functions of memory in some works of Christa Wolf, among them "Was bleibt" and "Leibhaftig". O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as configurações de história e memória em obras de Christa Wolf, relacionando-as com o período histórico que culminou com a queda do Muro de Berlim em 1989 e consequentemente com o fim do regime socialista na República Democrática Alemã (RDA). Levando em consideração os estudos sobre cultura da memória realizados por Aleida Assmann, pretende-se verificar aspectos concernentes aos limites e funções da memória em algumas obras de Christa Wolf, entre as quais "Was bleibt" e "Leibhaftig".

    "Quem ama não dorme" ("Schlafes Bruder") é o primeiro romance do escritor austríaco Robert Schneider, publicado em 1992. Ele conta a história de um prodígio da música, nascido em um vilarejo no início do século XIX. Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a série de empecilhos que impedem o protagonista, Elias Alder, de alcançar sucesso profissional e pessoal, tendo em vista as limitações da comunidade. O romance condensa características modernas e pós-modernas, como a fragmentação identitária, a ironia, o estranhamento e a quebra da linearidade narrativa. "Brother of sleep" ("Schlafes Bruder") is the first novel by the Austrian writer Robert Schneider, published in 1992. It tells the story of a music prodigy, who was born in a small village at the beginning of the nineteenth century. This paper aims to reflect on the series of obstacles that stop the protagonist, Elias Alder, from achieving professional and personal success, given the limitations of the community. The novel condenses modern and post-modern characteristics, such as the identity fragmentation, the irony, the estrangement and the breaking of narrative linearity.
