    Die Arbeitsbedingungen und fachlichen Strukturen der Germanistiken jenseits von Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz sind anders - diese verschiedenen Voraussetzungen bringen sowohl andere Probleme als auch andere Potenziale mit sich. Mein Beitrag soll daher sowohl die Debatte über die digitale Lehre in der Germanistik in den DACH-Ländern um eine belgische sowie niederländische Außenperspektive befruchten als auch den Austausch mit anderen Germanistiken ermöglichen, die unter ähnlichen Bedingungen arbeiten. Vor diesen Hintergründen möchte der Beitrag zunächst darstellen, 1) wie sich die germanistische Lehre an der Universiteit van Amsterdam bereits vor der Covid-19-Pandemie gestaltete und inwiefern asynchrone und digitale Verfahren dabei eine wichtige Rolle spielten, sowie 2), welche positiven wie auch problematischen Effekte die spontan notwendige Umstellung vom Campus- auf den Online-Unterricht im März 2020 an der Universiteit Antwerpen mit sich brachte. Schließlich sollen daraus 3) Empfehlungen zu einem Blended Learning in der germanistischen Lehre nach der Covid-19-Pandemie sowie 4) Implikationen für die Bildungspolitik und für die Germanistik abgeleitet werden.

    Mit der pandemiebedingten Notwendigkeit im Sommersemester ausschließlich digital zu unterrichten ging eine große Frage einher: "Wie komme ich in Kontakt mit unseren Studierenden?" und mehr noch "Wie halte ich diesen Kontakt?" Studierende sind untereinander im Idealfall durch Messenger-Gruppen verbunden, für uns Dozierende bleibt häufig nur ein Kanal: die traditionelle E-Mail. Viele Studierende fragen ihre universitätseigene E-Mail nicht ab oder leiten sie nicht auf eine private E-Mail-Adresse um, was für uns im Grunde bedeutete, dass nur unsere Homepage als sicherer aber eben auch einseitiger Informationskanal zur Verfügung stand. "Wegweiser" zu den neuen digitalen Räumen konnten hier zwar aufgestellt werden, was in diesen Räumen aber angeboten wurde, sollte m.E. interaktiv an die Bedarfe unserer Studierenden angepasst werden. Es brauchte also eigentlich sogar mehr Interaktion als in analogen Lehrveranstaltungen. Daher war für mich bei der Transformation der für das Sommersemester geplanten Lehrveranstaltungen die Integration von Interaktionsmöglichkeiten ein zentraler Aspekt, ein Prozess der selbst aber eben auch ein Trial and Error-Verfahren war, der ohne Feedback ins Leere gelaufen wäre. Nachfolgend möchte ich ein Seminar und drei Formate vorstellen, die Feedback und Interaktion auf unterschiedliche Weise integrieren.

    DIL ist ein deutsch-italienisches Online-Fachwörterbuch der Linguistik. Es ist ein offenes Wörterbuch und mit diesem Beitrag wird für eine mögliche Zusammenarbeit, Kollaboration plädiert. DIL ist noch im Aufbau begriffen; zur Zeit ist nur die Sektion DaF komplett veröffentlicht, auch wenn andere Sektionen in Bearbeitung sind. Die Sektion LEX (Lexikographie), die zur Veröffentlichung ansteht, wird zusammen mit den wichtigsten Eigenschaften des Wörterbuches präsentiert.

    DIL is a bilingual (German-Italian) online dictionary of linguistics. It is still under construction and contains 240 lemmas belonging to the subfield of “German as a Foreign Language”, but other subfields are in preparation. DIL is an open dictionary; participation of experts from various subfields is welcome. The dictionary is intended for a user group with different levels of knowledge, therefore it is a multifunctional dictionary. An analysis of existing dictionaries, either in their online or written form, was essential in order to make important decisions for the macro- or microstructure of DIL; the results are discussed. Criteria for the selection of entries and an example of an entry conclude the article.

    The compilation of terminological vocabularies plays a central role in the organization and retrieval of scientific texts. Both simple keyword lists as well as sophisticated modellings of relationships between terminological concepts can make a most valuable contribution to the analysis, classification, and finding of appropriate digital documents, either on the Web or within local repositories. This seems especially true for long-established scientific fields with various theoretical and historical branches, such as linguistics, where the use of terminology within documents from different origins is sometimes far from being consistent. In this short paper, we report on the early stages of a project that aims at the re-design of an existing domain-specific KOS for grammatical content grammis. In particular, we deal with the terminological part of grammis and present the state-of-the-art of this online resource as well as the key re-design principles. Further, we propose questions regarding ramifications of the Linked Open Data and Semantic Web approaches for our re-design decisions.

    This paper discusses work on the sustainability of linguistic resources as it was conducted in various projects, including the work of a three year project Sustainability of Linguistic Resources which finished in December 2008, a follow-up project, Sustainable linguistic data, and initiatives related to the work of the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) on developing standards for linguistic resources. The individual projects have been conducted at German collaborative research centres at the Universities of Potsdam, Hamburg and Tübingen, where the sustainability work was coordinated.

    Zentrum und Peripherie wurde zum leitenden Thema der gleichnamigen Konferenz, die vom 25. bis 27. Mai 2016 an der Schlesischen Universität Opava stattfand. Die Tagung, an der beinahe 90 Fachleute aus 9 Ländern teilnahmen, wurde vom Germanistenverband der Tschechischen Republik und der Germanistischen Abteilung des Instituts für Fremdsprachen der Schlesischen Universität Opava organisiert. Die Tagung verfolgte das Ziel, Zentrum und Peripherie in unterschiedlichen Bereichen zu untersuchen und einen Überblick über neue Methoden und Erkenntnisse im Bereich der sprachwissenschaftlichen, literarischen und didaktischen Forschungen in fünf Sektionen zu bieten: Die deutsche Sprache: Zentrum und Peripherie; Korpuserstellung und -analyse; Literatur interkulturell vs. transkulturell; Kanon und Norm in Literatur und Literaturdidaktik; Fehler und ihre Behandlung, und stellte eine Vielzahl an Fragestellungen und eine Vielzahl an Ansätzen vor. ; Zentrum und Peripherie (Centre and Periphery) was the main topic of the conference with the same title that was held from 25th to 27th May 2016 at Silesian University in Opava. The gathering of almost 90 experts from nine countries was organized by the Association for German Studies in the Czech Republic together with the Department of German Studies at Silesian University in Opava. The main objective of the conference was to investigate the centre and the periphery of the language from various points of view and provide an overview of new methods and findings in the field of linguistic, literary and didactic research. Within the individual contributions, many questions were posed and many different approaches presented in relation to the given issues, all of which took place in five sections: Centre and Periphery of the German Language, Creation and Analysis of a Language Corpus, Literature Approached Interculturally vs. Transculturally, Canon and Norm in Literature and Didactics of Literature, Error and How to Deal with It.

    This paper reports about current practice in a staged approach to the introduction of NLP principles and techniques for students of information science (IIM) and of international communication and translation (ICT) as part of their curricula. As most of these students are rather not familiar with computer science or, in the case of IIM students, linguistics, we see them as comparable with students of the humanities. We follow a blended learning strategy with lectures, online materials, tutorials, and screencasts. In the first two terms, we focus on linguistics and its formalisation, NLP tools and applications are then introduced from the third term on. The lectures are combined with tutorials and - since the summer term 2017 - with a set of screencasts.

    This paper describes a new research initiative addressing the issue of sustainability of linguistic resources. The initiative is a cooperation between three collaborative research centres in Germany – the SFB 441 “Linguistic Data Structures” in Tübingen, the SFB 538 “Multilingualism” in Hamburg, and the SFB 632 “Information Structure” in Potsdam/Berlin. The aim of the project is to develop methods for sustainable archiving of the diverse bodies of linguistic data used at the three sites. In the first half of the paper, the data handling solutions developed so far at the three centres are briefly introduced. This is followed by an assessment of their commonalities and differences and of what these entail for the work of the new joint initiative. The second part then sketches seven areas of open questions with respect to sustainable data handling and gives a more detailed account of two of them – integration of linguistic terminologies and development of best practice guidelines.

    This paper describes a new research initiative addressing the issue of sustainability of linguistic resources. This initiative is a cooperation between three linguistic collaborative research centres in Germany, which comprise more than 40 individual research projects altogether. These projects are involved in creating manifold language resources, especially corpora, tailored to their particular needs. The aim of the project described here is to ensure an effective and sustainable access of these data by third-party researchers beyond the termination of these projects. This goal involves a number of measures, such as the definition of a common data format to completely capture the heterogeneous information encoded in the individual corpora, the development of user-friendly and sustainably usable tools for processing (e.g. querying) the data, and the specification of common inventories of metadata and terminology. Moreover, the project aims at formulating general rules of best practice for creating, accessing, and archiving linguistic resources.
