Whereas the Most Honorable the Continental Congress, by a resolve of the 11th of July inst. empowered His Excellency General Washington to call forth the militia of the states of New-Hampshire, Massachusetts-Bay, Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations, Connecticut, New-York and New-Jersey, for the purpose of expelling the enemy from the United States, as occasion should require; and it is recommended to the said states when so called, to send forward their militia with al possible expedition -
