    Das zweibändige Referenzwerk ist ein integraler Bestandteil des Verfasserlexikons zur deutschen Literatur des Mittelalters und dokumentiert und erschließt mit der bereits im Hauptwerk bewährten Systematik bio-bibliographischer Artikel die lateinische Literatur und Wissenschaft im deutschsprachigen Raum zwischen 1480 und 1520. Die Ergänzungsbände umfassen somit die Glanzzeit des deutschen Humanismus, die im mediävistischen Verfasserlexikon nicht abgebildet ist. Die Artikel bieten umfassende, z. T. erstmals aus bislang nicht edierten Quellen erschlossene Informationen zur Biographie von ca. 200 repräsentativen Autoren, zu ihren Werken und deren Quellen und Überlieferung, zu literarhistorischen und interpretatorischen Problemen sowie zur Rezeptionsgeschichte. Ein umfassendes Literaturverzeichnis am Ende eines jeden Artikels erschließt die gesamte relevante Forschung zum jeweiligen Autor. Zu den aufgenommenen Autoren gehören u. a. so bedeutende Humanisten wie Heinrich Bebel, Sebastian Brant, Konrad Celtis, Johannes Cochlaeus, Eobanus Hessus, Ulrich von Hutten, Thomas Murner, Agrippa von Nettesheim, Willibald Pirckheimer, Johannes Reuchlin, Johannes Trithemius und Jakob Wimpfeling. Durch Verweise und differenzierte Register (zu Personen, Institutionen und Sachen) wird das weit gespannte humanistische Netz der Epoche eindrucksvoll sichtbar.     Friedrich Nietzsche hat zahlreiche Schriftsteller der klassischen Moderne fasziniert. Insbesondere die visionären Aufbruchsappelle seiner späten philosophischen Schriften sind von vielen Künstlern begeistert aufgenommen worden. Während die frühe Nietzsche-Rezeption von enthusiastischen Huldigungen, mitunter jedoch auch von scharfen Attacken geprägt ist, finden sich in den Jahren nach 1900 häufig vermittelnde Stellungnahmen. Zu den prominentesten Vertretern einer kritisch distanzierten Anerkennung gehört Thomas Mann, der sich schon früh gegen Nietzsches Vitalismus wendet, zugleich aber die psychologische Hellsichtigkeit des Philosophen würdigt. Der vorliegende Sammelband untersucht die Literatur der klassischen Moderne und berücksichtigt dabei vor allem deren Verflechtung mit jenen kulturpsychologischen, gesellschaftskritischen und epochendiagnostischen Diskursen, die Nietzsche angestoßen und radikalisiert hat. Rund zwanzig Beiträge analysieren Nietzsches Einfluss auf Schriftsteller wie Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Stefan George, Georg Trakl, Franz Kafka, Thomas Mann, Robert Musil, Gerhart Hauptmann und Gottfried Benn.     Compared to other medieval philologies, the particular nature of the literature of the North, and in particular of Iceland, has always meant that the study of Old Norse languages must be interdisciplinary and rely on methodical variety. Sie untersucht neben kanonischen Dramen von Lessing, Lenz, Goethe und Schiller auch weniger bekannte Dramenautorinnen und -autoren wie Friederike Caroline Neuber, Christiane Karoline Schlegel und August von Kotzebue und kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass die Regiebemerkungen nicht nur im Hinblick auf die Theateraufführung von Belang sind, sondern auch als Text bei der Lektüre wichtige Funktionen erfüllen

    In der ernsten Gattung Lyrik gelten komische Gedichte als 'lachhaft', und minderwertig. Dagegen zeigt diese Studie, dass die Gattung sich über die Verdichtungen von Form, Stil und Sprache definiert. Komik entsteht dann aus den Verformungen solcher Verdichtung. Damit eröffnet sich an Beispielen von etwa 150 Autoren aus fünf Jahrhunderten ein eindrucksvolles Panorama lyrischer Komik, das von 'Volkes Stimme', bis zu komisch-ernsten Mischformen (u. a. bei Goethe, Heine und Gernhardt) reicht. Doch auch die ernste Lyrik ist wegen überanstrengung ihrer Form komik-gefährdet. Lyrische Komik ist so ein Prüfstein des Ernstes und ein vergnügliches, zugleich ernst zu nehmendes Fundament der Gattung.

Dat zijn de belangrijkste aanbevelingen uit het rapport van de commissie Nationaal Plan Toekomst Geesteswetenschappen onder voorzitterschap van Job Cohen. Hij heeft het eindrapport vanmorgen overhandigd aan minister Ronald Plasterk, die een jaar geleden de opdracht gaf voor het opstellen van dit advies. Op het eerste gezicht lijken de geesteswetenschappen er in Nederland goed voor te staan. Het aantal studenten groeit, het onderzoek is hoogwaardig en er is sprake van een groeiende maatschappelijke belangstelling voor de producten van het geesteswetenschappelijk onderzoek. Deze ogenschijnlijke bloei kan niet verhullen dat zich ernstige problemen voordoen die de toekomst van de geesteswetenschappen bedreigen. Zo kon afgelopen jaren ondanks de stijging van het aantal studenten niet of nauwelijks in extra personeel worden geïnvesteerd. Een sterke verslechtering van de stafstudentratio en toenemende druk op onderzoekstijd zijn het gevolg. Ook voor het opleiden van de toekomstige generatie wetenschappers ontbreekt het aan financiële ruimte. Gevolg is dat de pool van kandidaten om de huidige generatie wetenschappelijke staf op te volgen steeds kleiner wordt, wat op termijn de kwaliteit van het hele wetenschapsgebied bedreigt. De commissie stelt voor om een deskundig en gezaghebbend regieorgaan in te stel-len. Dat beheert een speciaal budget waarop de geesteswetenschappelijke faculteiten een beroep kunnen doen met een overtuigend toekomstplan. Dat plan moet de verschillende deelproblemen (zoals versnippering van het onderwijsaanbod, geringe maatschappelijke uitstraling, lage onderwijsrendementen, betere doorstroming van jong talent in vaste wetenschappelijke rangen etc.) stevig aanpakken.     This is the first introduction in German to the Wigalois by Wirnt von Grafenberg, written around 1200. The introduction is written for the general reader, with a target readership both of students of medieval German literature and of a wider audience of those seeking an initial approach to the text. Each section of the romance is summarized exactly, the most important intertextual references are pointed up, and each scene is located within the overall context of the text using the findings of most recent research. In addition, this introduction provides information on the author, transmission of the text, its editorial history, and the structure and most important complexes of motifs in the Wigalois. Particular emphasis is placed on the productive medieval reception of the romance and its most important representatives, with the Erfurt version discovered in 2006 being presented for the first time.
