DuGard for Frances Eglesfield (see Madan 24:first issue and Wing) Authorship of the Eikōn basilikē was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden, who probably included some authentic writings of the king Almack says "The 'Eikon' and Prayers do not properly belong to this edition [Almack 22] of the 'Reliquae'", but he includes them in his report.
