    Ausgehend von den theoretischen Grundlagen der Angewandten Kritischen Linguistik werden zwei für den Unterricht des Deutschen als Fremdsprache in Brasilien relevante Aspekte diskutiert: zum einen, die Konsequenzen des häufig gehörten Arguments, Deutsch sei eine besonders "kultivierte" und schwierige Sprache, und zum zweiten, die Tatsache, dass in vielen in Brasilien verwendeten Lehrwerken nicht auf die Besonderheiten eines möglichen Kontakts zwischen einem Brasilianer, der Deutsch lernt, und einem deutschen Mutterprachler eingegangen wird. Schließlich wird die Frage gestellt, ob das derzeit in Brasilien verwendete (und aus Deutschland importierte) Lehrmaterial dazu geeignet ist, die LernerInnen zu einem kritischen Umgang mit der deutschen Sprache und Kultur anzuregen. In the theoretical context of Critical Applied Linguistics, this paper examines two aspects that are important for a consideration of the possible imaginaries that permeate the contact between a Brazilian student and German as a foreign language. I analyze the possible consequences of the argument that German is a very "cultivated" and difficult language, as well as the lack of incentive, in didactic material, for reflections on the peculiarities of a possible contact between a Brazilian student and the German language or a native speaker of that language. Finally, this paper intends to discuss whether if there is any didactic material used for teaching of German in Brazil which stimulates the pupils to criticize the peculiarities and the imaginaries that permeate their contact with the German culture and language.

    "Brazil – a country of the future" ("Brasilien – ein Land der Zukunft"), written by Stefan Zweig in the 40s, is one of the few books to portray Brazil as a harmonious country. However, although the book is widely acknowledged as a fine piece of work, one cannot afford to ignore that some other German authors from the same period presented other entirely different views of Brazil. This paper focuses on the novel "Romanceiro Brasileiro" by Ulrich Becher, an author relatively neglected in the Germanic studies. The primary aim is to examine some aspects of the image of Brazil. Unlike Zweig, who shows a tendency to conceal potential conflicts which could threaten his idea of a harmonious Brazil, Becher points out the contradictions and disparities of the country, focusing on aspects which contradict the idyllic image suggested by Zweig, such as Brazil's serious social problems and injustice. By doing so, Becher may have created a more plausible image of Brazil. Poucas obras marcaram tanto o imaginário acerca do Brasil como o livro de Stefan Zweig intitulado "Brasil – um país do futuro", escrito nos anos 1940. No entanto, não obstante a fama desse livro e de sua visão de um Brasil harmonioso, não se deve esquecer que existem livros de outros autores de língua alemã, escritos nessa mesma época, com visões e interpretações acerca do Brasil divergentes daquelas reveladas por Zweig. Neste artigo, são abordados alguns aspectos da imagem do Brasil presentes no "Romanceiro Brasileiro", de Ulrich Becher – um autor relativamente negligenciado pelos estudos germânicos. Zweig, na procura por benesses do governo de Getúlio Vargas, demonstra uma tendência de ocultar possíveis conflitos que poderiam ameaçar a harmonia que ele acredita ter encontrado no Brasil. Ao contrário disso, Becher – para quem esse país foi apenas um lugar de passagem - destaca justamente as contradições e dissonâncias presentes, focalizando aspectos conflitantes com uma imagem idílica, como os grandes problemas e injustiças sociais, e chega, assim, a elaborar uma imagem talvez mais plausível do Brasil.

    This paper presents an overview of the central arguments of some studies and essays about Austrian literature (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) that are concerned with the existence of a difference between the Austrian and other German language literatures. To illuminate the core points of these discussions, we will compare them to representative arguments about Austrian literature from post-war decades. ... In diesem Beitrag werden zentrale Argumente wissenschaftlicher Publikationen und Aufsätze (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) über die österreichische Literatur zusammengefasst und näher beleuchtet, insbesondere jene, die sich auf die Eigenständigkeit der österreichischen Literatur neben anderen Literaturen in deutscher Sprache beziehen. Um diese Debatten in ihren historischen Zusammenhang zu stellen, werden sie mit theoretischen Ansätzen v.a. der Nachkriegszeit verglichen, die sich dem selben Thema widmen. ... Este artigo procura resumir e ilustrar argumentações centrais de estudos teóricos e ensaios sobre a literatura austríaca (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) que se referem, especificamente, à questão da existência de diferenças entre essa literatura e outras em língua alemã.     Der Kurator der Ausstellung Wir brauchen einen ganz anderen Mut! Stefan Zweig - Abschied von Europa, Klemens Renoldner, spricht im Interview über Text-Kontext-Beziehungen in Hinblick auf das Werk des österreichischen Schriftstellers Stefan Zweig (1881-1942). Dabei kommen u.a. unterschiedliche Rezeptionskontexte und Interpretationsansätze ans Licht, die dazu beitragen, traditionelle Klischees rund um das Leben und das Werk des Autors zu relativieren. Außerdem wird auf die Zusammenarbeit des Stefan Zweig Centres in Salzburg und der Casa Stefan Zweig in Petrópolis (Rio de Janeiro) hingewiesen und abgeschlossene, sowie zukünftige Projekte vorgestellt. Klemens Renoldner, curador da exposição Precisamos de uma coragem bem diferente! -Stefan Zweig - despedida da Europa, aborda, em entrevista, as relações entre entre textos e contextos no âmbito da obra do escritor austríaco Stefan Zweig (1881-1942). Com isso, traz à tona diferentes contextos de recepção e vertentes interpretativas da obra zweigiana, contribuindo assim à relativização de tradicionais clichês em torno da vida e da obra do autor. Além disso, a conversa trata da cooperação entre o Stefan Zweig Centre, em Salzburgo, e a Casa Stefan Zweig, em Petrópolis (Rio de Janeiro), e apresenta projetos realizados e futuros. The curator of the exhibition We need an entirely different courage! Stefan Zweig - farewell to Europe, Klemens Renoldner, discusses in this interview the relation between texts and contexts with respect to the work of the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig (1881-1942). He brings out different contexts of reception and different interpretative approaches, that can put traditional stereotypes about the life and work of the author into new perspectives. The conversation also deals with the cooperation between the Stefan Zweig Centre in Salzburg and the Casa Stefan Zweig in Petrópolis (Rio de Janeiro) and mentions joint projects that have already been realized, as well as future projects.

    Este artigo se propõe a discutir algumas questões de interesse tradutológico referentes às três traduções brasileiras (1950; 1977; 2017) da obra Der Witz und seine Beziehung zum Unbewussten, de Sigmund Freud - cuja primeira publicação data de 1905. Parte-se de argumentos expostos em um debate entre o poeta e tradutor brasileiro Haroldo de Campos e o tradutor francês de Freud, Jean Laplanche, acerca das possibilidades de traduzir os chistes citados por Freud no referido livro, para identificar as diferentes estratégias adotadas pelos tradutores brasileiros. Longe de apresentar uma análise completa das diversas versões ou um cotejo exaustivo entre o original e as três (re)traduções, o que este trabalho visa é defender que elas constituem aproximações diferentes – porém todas válidas e potencialmente relevantes para o leitor-alvo - em relação a determinados aspectos da obra "original". In diesem Beitrag werden einige übersetzungsrelevante Aspekte der drei brasilianischen Versionen (1950, 1977, 2017) von Sigmund Freuds Der Witz und seine Beziehung zum Unbewussten (1905) diskutiert. Ausgehend von Argumenten, die vom brasilianischen Dichter und Übersetzer Haroldo de Campos und dem französischen Übersetzer des Werks Freuds, Jean Laplanche, während eines Gesprächs über die Übersetzungsmöglichkeiten der von Freud zitierten Witze vorgebracht wurden, werden verschiedene Strategien der brasilianischen Übersetzer in Hinblick auf die von Freud zitierten Witze besprochen. Es wird keine erschöpfende Analyse oder ein endgültiger Vergleich zwischen dem Original und den Übersetzungen angestrebt, sondern signalisiert, dass die drei brasilianischen (Neu-)Übersetzungen zwar unterschiedliche, aber potenziell relevante Lesarten des "Originals" sind. This article proposes to discuss some aspects of translation of the three Brazilian versions (1950, 1977, 2017) of Sigmund Freud's Der Witz und seine Beziehung zum Unbewussten, whose first publication dates from 1905. Based on arguments presented during a debate between the Brazilian poet and translator Haroldo de Campos and the French translator of the work of Freud, Jean Laplanche, on the possibilities of translating the jokes mentioned by Freud in his book, different strategies adopted by the Brazilian translators are identified. Far from trying to present an exhaustive analysis of the different versions or a comparison between the original and the three (re)translations, it is argued that they are different approaches about certain aspects of the "original" work, all of them valid and potentially relevant to the Brazilian reader.

    At first glance, Wolfgang Bauer's microdramas, written in the 1960s, appear to be nothing more than funny little jokes about the dramatic genre and its conventions. Based on the assumption that they also had a considerable provocative - and even political - potential, especially in the conservative context of Austria in the 1960s, this article proposes a reflection about the relationship between the comical and the provocative dimensions of these texts. Based on studies of the characteristics and effects of Bauer's work (Antonic [2017; 2018]; Melzer [1981], Waggershauser [2016]), as well as Peter L. Berger's (1998) and Uwe Wirth's (1999) studies about the comical human experience, this article proposes that Bauer's microdramas are not just an example of a very innovative meta-theater. They may elicit a liberating, "redeeming" laughter that can also be felt as a political provocation, especially in social contexts marked by essentialist and/or fundamentalist discourses. À primeira vista, os microdramas de Wolfgang Bauer, escritos nos anos 1960, parecem ser nada mais do que pequenas brincadeiras engraçadas com o gênero dramático e suas convenções. Partindo da constatação que eles tiveram um considerável efeito provocativo, e até político, no contexto conservador da Áustria daquela década, propõe-se uma reflexão sobre a relação entre a sua comicidade e o seu potencial incitador. Com base em estudos sobre características e efeitos da obra de Wolfgang Bauer (Antonic [2017; 2018]; Melzer [1981], Waggershauser [2016]) e nas teorizações sobre a experiência do cômico de Peter L. Berger (1998) e Uwe Wirth (1999), este artigo sugere que os microdramas de Bauer não são apenas um exemplo de metateatro bastante inovador. Eles permitem surgir um riso "redentor", libertador, que também pode ser sentido como uma provocação política, especialmente em contextos sociais marcados por discursos essencialistas e/ou fundamentalistas.

    Johann Nepomuk Nestroy (1801-1862) foi um dos dramaturgos mais importantes da história do teatro da Áustria. Ator e autor aclamado durante seu tempo, é também nome de referência e enorme influência para muitos escritores austríacos canônicos do século XX e do começo do XXI, que até hoje se definem como devedores de sua poética dramatúrgica (por exemplo, Karl Kraus ou Elfriede Jelinek). Este artigo, além de destacar o papel do dramaturgo com "ancestral" para uma parte da literatura austríaca, lança um olhar sobre a única tradução de uma peça de Nestroy disponível no Brasil ("Cacique Vento-da-Tarde ou O festim do horror", publicada em 1990), com o intuito de colocar em questão a visão recorrente da obra de Nestroy como "intraduzível". Johann Nepomuk Nestroy (1801-1862) was one of the most important playwrights in the history of Austrian theater. He was an acclaimed actor and author during his time, and he is also a reference writer and a huge influence for many canonical Austrian writers in the 20th and early 21st centuries, who today define themselves as debtors of his dramaturgical poetics (for instance, Karl Kraus ou Elfriede Jelinek). The article highlights the role of Nestroy as an "ancestor" for part of Austrian literature, and also looks at the only translation of a Nestroy play available in Brazil ("Cacique Vento-da-Tarde ou O festim do horror", 1990), in order to call into question the common view of Nestroy's work as "intranslatable".

    Starting from the assertion that there is a separate Austrian Literary Identity (which does not want to be seen as part of German literature, but in opposition to it), the article presents arguments and examples which support this claim. Partindo da premissa de que existe uma identidade literária austríaca (que não se entende como parte da literatura alemã, mas que pretende se diferenciar dela), o artigo apresenta argumentos e exemplos que sustentam a referida argumentação. Ausgehend von der Behauptung, dass es eine eigene österreichische Literaturidentität gibt (die nicht als Teil der deutschen Literatur gesehen wird, sondern sich teilweise klar von dieser abgrenzen will), werden Argumente und Beispiele angeführt, die diese Behauptung stützen.

    A dimensão cômica é um aspecto negligenciado na recepção brasileira da obra de Elfriede Jelinek, embora venha ganhando cada vez mais destaque em trabalhos acadêmicos internacionais. O propósito deste trabalho é argumentar que o potencial cômico não é um fator secundário na obra da escritora austríaca, mas essencial no âmbito de seu projeto político-esclarecedor. Nesse sentido, este artigo apresenta possíveis aproximações a diversas categorias do cômico que podem ser identificadas em textos teatrais de Jelinek. A argumentação baseia-se em quatro peças teatrais, todas tematizando o papel da mulher numa sociedade patriarcal e capitalista. The comical dimension is a neglected aspect of the Brazilian reception of Elfriede Jelinek's work, despite receiving more and more prominence in international academic works. The purpose of this paper is to argue that the comical potential is not a secondary factor in the work of the Austrian writer, but essential in the context of her political-enlightening project. In this sense, this paper presents some possible approaches to several categories of the comical that can be identified in Jelinek's theatre texts. The arguments are based on examples of four pieces written by Jelinek, all thematizing the role of women in a patriarchal and capitalist society.

    "Brazil – a country of the future" ("Brasilien – ein Land der Zukunft"), written by Stefan Zweig in the 40s, is one of the few books to portray Brazil as a harmonious country. However, although the book is widely acknowledged as a fine piece of work, one cannot afford to ignore that some other German authors from the same period presented other entirely different views of Brazil. This paper focuses on the novel "Romanceiro Brasileiro" by Ulrich Becher, an author relatively neglected in the Germanic studies. The primary aim is to examine some aspects of the image of Brazil. Unlike Zweig, who shows a tendency to conceal potential conflicts which could threaten his idea of a harmonious Brazil, Becher points out the contradictions and disparities of the country, focusing on aspects which contradict the idyllic image suggested by Zweig, such as Brazil's serious social problems and injustice. By doing so, Becher may have created a more plausible image of Brazil. ; Poucas obras marcaram tanto o imaginário acerca do Brasil como o livro de Stefan Zweig intitulado "Brasil – um país do futuro", escrito nos anos 1940. No entanto, não obstante a fama desse livro e de sua visão de um Brasil harmonioso, não se deve esquecer que existem livros de outros autores de língua alemã, escritos nessa mesma época, com visões e interpretações acerca do Brasil divergentes daquelas reveladas por Zweig. Neste artigo, são abordados alguns aspectos da imagem do Brasil presentes no "Romanceiro Brasileiro", de Ulrich Becher – um autor relativamente negligenciado pelos estudos germânicos.
