    Este artigo desenvolve sete teses acerca do conceito de coerência e de outros conceitos básicos da análise do discurso e da lingüística textual. Na primeira parte, inicia-se com algumas observações históricas acerca das noções de texto, discurso e comunicação. Na segunda parte, discute as relações entre coerência e coesão, intertextualidade e polifonia, bem como entre coerência e intertextualidade; define coesão como um tipo especial de coerência e polifonia como um tipo especial de intertextualidade e argumenta que as noções clássicas de coerência e intertextualidade representam perspectivas opostas dentro da lingüística textual. Na Terceira parte, busca uma redefinição de coerência que possa explicar esse conceito simultaneamente para o discurso, a cognição e o texto. Descarta as definições de coerência como resultado da constituição de sentido e como estado-alvo estável de um sistema e propõe sua definição como relativa uniformidade local de um sistema, segundo parâmetros considerados relevantes pelo observador. No último item, postula que coerência e incoerência são igualmente necessários dentro de qualquer sistema natural para garantir sua evolução histórica. ; This paper develops seven theses on coherence and other basic concepts of discourse analysis and text linguistics. In the first section, it begins with some historical observations about the notions of text, discourse and communication. In the second section, the relations between coherence and cohesion, intertextuality and polyphony, as well as between coherence and intertextuality are discussed. Cohesion is defined as a special type of coherence and polyphony as a special type of intertextuality. The classical notions of coherence and intertextuality are shown to represent opposed perspectives within text linguistics. In the third section, a re-definition of coherence is proposed that can be applied simultaneously to discourse, cognition and text.     O presente trabalho discute a classificação dos substantivos e/ou sintagmas nominais em contáveis e não-contáveis no alemão e no português do Brasil. Propomos um modelo de estrutura, válido para ambas as línguas, em que a contabilidade é construída composicionalmente em nível do sintagma nominal, mediante três traços sintático-semânticos: [±individuado], [±incrementado] e [±delimitado]. O valor do primeiro traço é fixado pelo quantificador, o do segundo, pelo número e o do terceiro, pelo substantivo. Na língua alemã, os três traços contribuem para a constituição da contabilidade, sendo o terceiro o traço menos importante. No português brasileiro apenas os dois primeiros mostram-se produtivos, enquanto o terceiro é irrelevante. Isso corresponde a dizer que não se distinguem substantivos contáveis e não-contáveis no léxico do português brasileiro. Para ambos os idiomas, as propostas são ilustradas com exemplos autênticos de uso.

    Der vorliegende Aufsatz behandelt ausgewählte morphologische, syntaktische, semantische und pragmatische Eigenschaften von Nominaltotalisatoren im Deutschen und im brasilianischen Portugiesisch. Im einzelnen werden die Elemente todo, cada, ambos und os dois sowie alle, jeder, der ganze und beide behandelt. Hinsichtlich ihrer Morphologie wird die Bildung von Genus-, Numerus- und Kasusformen beschrieben. Im Bereich der Syntax geht es um die Stellung der Totalisatoren in der Nominalphrase, ihre Beziehungen zu Determinantien und Quantoren und um die funktionale Verteilung von Deklinationstypen. Im Bereich der Semantik und Pragmatik geht es um die Kodierung referentieller und quantifikationaler Information, um Definitheit und um kumulative vs. distributive Totalisierung. Das Erkenntnisinteresse wird durch den Vergleich zwischen dem Deutschen und dem brasilianichen Portugiesisch bestimmt, wobei auf typische Fehler von Sprachlernern in beiden Richtungen eingegangen wird. ; The present paper deals with selected morphological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic characteristics of nominal totalizers in German and in Brazilian Portuguese. In particular, it analyzes the elements todo, cada, ambos and os dois, as well as alle Jeder, der ganze and beide. In terms of morphology, it describes the formation of gender, number and case forms. In the field of syntax, it focuses on the position of totalizers in the nominal phrase, their relations to determiners and quantifiers, and the functional distribution of declension types. In terms of semantics and pragmatics, it investigates the codification of referential and quantificational information, definiteness and cumulative v distributive totalization. The epistemological interest is defined by the objectives of linguistic comparison between German and Brazilian Portuguese, including the analysis of typical errors committed by language learners in both directions.

    The present paper deals with grammaticalization as a comprehensive model of erosive processes in the history of natural languages, exemplified in German and Brazilian Portuguese. Grammaticalization is conceived of as the reduction of pragmatic versatility, semantic concreteness, syntactic liberty and phonetic substance of linguistic elements. It is subdivided into the processes of lexicalization, which transforms polylexematic into monolexematic elements, and deslexicalization, which reduces lexematic to sublexematic elements. In the middle of these processes stands the lexicon, which is seen as the central stock of linguistic elements. Within the lexicon, the process of grammaticalization continues, from lexical word classes through intermediate classes to grammatical word classes. The lower boundary of the lexicon is a critical threshold, down to which the process of grammaticalization is compensated for by linguistic recycling that leads lexematic elements back into the linguistic circuit, through the formation of new polylexematic units. Beyond this threshold, however, no recycling is possible any more, so that elements which have once lost their lexical character are condemned to disappear in the long run. The different stages of grammaticalization are introduced and illustrated by means of concrete examples, first from Brazilian Portuguese and afterwards from German. ; Der vorliegende Aufsatz behandelt am Beispiel des Deutschen und des brasilianischen Portugiesisch den Prozeß der Grammatikalisierung als ein umfassendes Modell für erosive Vorgänge in der Geschichte natürlicher Sprachen. Grammatikalisierung wird vorgestellt als Abbau der pragmatischen Vielseitigkeit, semantischen Konkretheit, syntaktischen Freiheit und phonetischen Substanz von Sprachelementen. Ihr Gesamtgebiet wird zerlegt in den Prozeß der Lexikalisierung, der polylexematische Elemente in monolexematische überführt, und den der Delexikalisierung, der lexematische Elemente zu sublexematischen reduziert.     This paper examines four German transportation verbs with the prefix weg-, concentrating on their syntax and their semantic and pragmatic interpretations. The empirical data investigated are from a cross-linguistic corpus of German and Brazilian Portuguese as foreign languages. The analysis is based on the concept of focus, which is defined as a point on the path along which the patient of the process moves. The focus must be either mentioned or contextually evident. Each transportation verb will be able to establish a typical focus. German prefix-verbs with weg- are characterized by a focus-conflict that can be resolved through different interpretation strategies. ; Der vorliegende Aufsatz untersucht vier deutsche Transport-verben mit dem Präfix weg- hinsichtlich ihrer Syntax sowie ihrer semantischen und pragmatischen Interpretationen. Die analysierten empirischen Daten stammen aus einem kontrastiven Korpus des Deutschen und des brasilianischen Portugiesisch als Fremdsprachen. Die Analyse gründet sich auf das Konzept des Fokus, der definiert wird als ein Punkt auf dem vom Patiens des Prozesses durchlaufenen Weg. Der Fokus muß entweder erwähnt werden oder kontextuell evident sein. Jedes Transportverb besitzt die Fähigkeit, einen typischen Fokus zu etablieren. Deutsche Präfixverben mit weg- sind durch einen Fokuskonflikt gekennzeichnet, der durch verschiedene Interpretationsstrategien aufgelöst werden kann.

    Die Zeitschrift Pandaemonium Germanicum erscheint zweimal jährlich und versteht sich als Forum für die wissenschaftliche Diskussion in den verschiedenen Bereichen der internationalen Germanistik, nämlich der Literatur- und Übersetzungswissenschaft, Linguistik, DaF und Kulturstudien. Die Zeitschrift wird von der deutschen Abteilung der FFLCH-USP (Universität São Paulo) seit 1997 herausgegeben und will zur Verbreitung unveröffentlichter Forschungen von GermanistInnen aus Brasilien und anderen Ländern, sowie zur Förderung des Dialogs zwischen der Germanistik und anderen Wissensbereichen beitragen.

    O conceito de Witz, como aparece nos fragmentos de Friedrich Schlegel, publicados entre 1798 e 1800, está ligado ao entendimento estético e foi recuperado por Walter Benjamin em O conceito de crítica de arte no romantismo alemão. O Witz faz parte da "terminologia filosófica" romântica, é um instante na reflexão crítica sobre uma obra de arte onde se dá o conhecimento súbito. O Witz opera na obra uma iluminação de diferentes níveis: semanticamente, aparece na obra como as figuras de estilo da subitaneidade, ou como parabase, a ruptura que autoexplica a obra. Witz, etimologicamente, seria uma corruptela de wissen (saber), e representado pela metáfora da luz. O termo original Witz mantém uma relação sonora com Blitz (relâmpago), é o saber que emerge à consciência subitamente, como um relâmpago, uma iluminação súbita da cena. Witz/Bliz constituem-se em um par conceitual, ou seja, a sonoridade dos termos permite um permuta visual e fonética que vem ao encontro das possibilidades semânticas, compondo um par de opostos. ; The concept of Witz, as it appears in fragments by Friedrich Schlegel, published between 1798 and 1800, is connected to the aesthetic understanding and was revisited by Walter Benjamin in The Concept of Art Criticism in German Romanticism. Witz is part of the romantic "philosophical terminology", a moment in a critical reflection on a work of art in which sudden knowledge is given. In the work of art, Witz operates an illumination of different levels: semantically, it appears as a figure of style of suddenness, or as parabasis, the break that self-explains the work. Witz, etymologically, would be a corruption of "wissen" (to know), represented by the metaphor of light. The original term Witz maintains a sound similarity to Blitz (lightning), as the knowledge that emerges into consciousness suddenly, like the lightning, a sudden illumination of the scene.     Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a construção das Stimmungen (atmosferas) na livre-adaptação do Fausto de Goethe realizada, em 2011, pelo diretor russo Aleksandr Sokurov. Dentro dessa perspectiva, buscaremos demonstrar, particularmente, como o diálogo entre Sokurov e Goethe não se dá somente no domínio do enredo, mas também no modo peculiar como ambos se utilizam da técnica como forma de modulação dos afetos dos espectadores. ; This work aims at analyzing the construction of the Stimmungen (atmospheres) in the free-adaptation of the Goethe's Faust made in 2011 by the Russian director Aleksandr Sokurov. Within this perspective, we seek to demonstrate in particular how the dialogue between Sokurov and Goethe does not happen only in realm of the plot, but also in the peculiar way in which both use the technique as a way of modulating the spectators’ affections.

    O artigo aborda as experiências fotografias e narrativas do fotojornalista austríaco Mario Baldi, que trabalhou entre os índios brasileiros na primeira metade do século XX. Baldi escreveu um livro sobre sua convivência com os Carajá e publicou tanto no Brasil quanto na Alemanha. O objetivo dessa análise é comparar as duas versões e abordar as inovações e limites das representações que Baldi faz da alteridade cultural brasileira, influenciadas por um romantismo etnológico compartilhado por alguns estudiosos brasileiros e alemães, denominado nos anos 1940 e 1950 de indiologia brasileira. ; This article concerns photographic and narrative experiences of the Austrian photographer Mario Baldi, who worked among Brazilian Indians in the first half of the twentieth century. Baldi wrote a book about his relation with the Carajá and published it both in Brazil and Germany. This analysis aims to compare both versions of the book and consider the innovations and limits of the representations made by Baldi about the cultural otherness in Brazil. These representations, shared by both Brazilian and German authors, were influenced by an ethnological romantism, the so-called Brazilian Indiology in the 1940's and 1950's.

    Este trabalho se propõe a utilizar os princípios inerentes à Linguística de Corpus – listas de palavras, palavras-chave e linhas de concordância – com o intuito de fazer uma análise comparativa do texto Trauer und Melancholie, escrito por Freud em 1917, e suas cinco retraduções publicadas em português no Brasil. Devido à insatisfação em relação às traduções indiretas dos escritos freudianos, desde a década de 1990 têm surgido propostas de retraduções que visam recuperar nos textos em português a terminologia e o estilo que o pai da Psicanálise utilizou em alemão. A fim de verificar até que ponto as escolhas tradutórias estão diretamente ligadas ao texto-fonte, partimos de dados empíricos levantados por ferramentas computacionais.
