In this deliverable, partner institutions describe their established workflows for data ingest into their data repositories. As these repositories predate the attempts at creating a consolidated national research data infrastructure and the Text+ project in particular, the approaches and procedures vary to some degree.

This book explores the vibrant linguistic world of young speakers through their YouTube comments. Combining linguistics, youth language and digitally mediated communication, this study is anchored in the groundbreaking NottDeuYTSch corpus, a collection of over 33 million words taken from YouTube comments spanning a decade (2008-2018). The book examines lexical, morphological, syntactic, and orthographic phenomena through three detailed corpus linguistic case studies. From the development of iconic slang terms to non-standard syntax and the creative use of graphical characters, Abogeil! reveals how young people innovate and reshape language in digital spaces. Essential for linguists, educators and anyone interested in digital youth culture, this work highlights the intersection of language, technology and identity in the 21st century.

This study examines how queer relationships are linguistically constructed and marked through "Othering" in the transcripts of the parliamentary debates in the German Bundestag from 1949 to 2024, using a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative corpus linguistics and qualitative discourse analysis. The study identifies persistent linguistic strategies that marginalize queer relationships as "deviant" or "different", while also observing shifts in discourse towards greater inclusivity. The findings indicate that early debates predominantly framed queerness in terms of criminalization and pathology, whereas later discussions incorporated more implicit forms of Othering. The study highlights the role of language in shaping societal perceptions of queer relationships and argues for the importance of linguistic inclusivity in political discourse.

The following chapter proposes a typology of intensification in German digitally-mediated communication (DMC). Intensification has been conventionally understood as a lexicogrammatical process modifying the quality of an element in a sentence – either amplifying or diminishing it – through the use of another element known as an intensifier. However, developments within DMC have seen intensification strategies progress beyond a traditional understanding of the concept and even beyond grammatical categorisation. Using authentic data from the NottDeuYTSch corpus of YouTube comments, the chapter classifies intensification in five categories: morphological, syntactic, expressive, graphemic, and typographical, and explores elements containing multiple aspects of intensification. The typology of intensification presented in this chapter showcases the creative usage of digital resources and how this can influence our understanding of traditional linguistic concepts.

The landscape of digital lexical resources is often characterized by dedicated local portals and proprietary interfaces as primary access points for scholars and the interested public. In addition, legal and technical restrictions are potential issues that can make it difficult to efficiently query and use these valuable resources. As part of the research data consortium Text+, solutions for the storage and provision of digital language resources are being developed and provided in the context of the unified cross-domain German research data infrastructure NFDI. The specific topic of accessing lexical resources in a diverse and heterogenous landscape with a variety of participating institutions and established technical solutions is met with the development of the federated search and query framework LexFCS. The LexFCS extends the established CLARIN Federated Content Search that already allows accessing spatially distributed text corpora using a common specification of technical interfaces, data formats, and query languages. This paper describes the current state of development of the LexFCS, gives an insight into its technical details, and provides an outlook on its future development.
