    Il presente saggio costituisce la seconda edizione (notevolmente) ampliata del saggio omonimo, pubblicato la prima volta dal Centro Studi Anthologia Latina di Perugia nel 2016 ed esaurito in breve volger di tempo. Scaturito dalla consapevolezza che, nella teoria come nella prassi editoriale, il divario tra congettura e restituzione appare talora quasi impercettibile, il saggio si propone di mostrare, con numerosi exempla critico-testuali pertinenti ad autori che vanno da Ovidio alla fine dell'età tardoantica, che anche la migliore congettura ope ingenii - ritenuta 'palmare' dalla comunità scientifica - vel raro vel numquam può aspirare a sanare il testo in maniera definitiva e incontrovertibile. La scelta pragmatica effettuata (affiancare a congetture comunemente accreditate altre congetture che mirano a scalzarle, nell'intento di mettere a nudo la precarietà di ogni congettura in quanto tale) consente di entrare subito e in maniera concreta nel merito della discussione su come è e come si fa o andrebbe fatta una congettura. Per cui il criterio di esposizione rovescia, in certo senso, il metodo tradizionale in quanto non detta regole in astratto e fa vedere come si procede nel discutere e sanare testi che presentano corruttele, anche non immediatamente evidenti. In questo senso, il saggio rappresenta una sintesi tra teoria e prassi ecdotica.****************The present essay constitutes the second (considerably) increased edition of the essay with the same title, published for the first time by "Centro Studi Anthologia Latina" in Perugia in 2016 and sold out in a short space of time. Arising from the awareness that, in theory as in editorial practice, the gap between conjecture and restitution sometimes appears almost imperceptible, the essay aims to show, with numerous textual exempla pertinent to authors ranging from Ovid to the end of the late ancient age, that even the best conjecture ope ingenii - considered evident by the scientific community - vel raro vel numquam can aspire to remedy the text in a definitive and incontrovertible way. The pragmatic choice made (alongside commonly accepted conjectures with other conjectures that aim to undermine them, in order to reveal the precariousness of each conjecture as such) allows to enter immediately and concretely in the merit of the discussion on how it is and how conjecture is made or should be made.

    The volume investigates the reception of Senecan tragedies during Humanism, focusing on printed editions and on translations in Florentine vernacular language. The first chapter summarizes the manuscript transmission of the tragedies up to the first age of printing, with a glimpse to their possible theatrical representations. The second chapter contains the description of the printed editions from the princeps (before 1478) to the three-comment edition by Josse Bade (1514): I analysed the main paratexts, with a focus on the commentaries by Gellio Bernardino Marmitta, Daniele Caetani, and Josse Bade, and reconstructed the identities of the personalities who contributed to the publication of the tragedies. The third chapter offers a stylistic study of the five vernacular translations produced up to the year 1498. In the volume I publish the translations by Evangelista Fossa (Agamennone) and Pizio da Montevarchi (Hercule furent and Hyppolito), which lacked a modern edition

    L’italiano è generalmente considerata una lingua che utilizza prevalentemente la derivazione per espandere il proprio lessico; d’altra parte, la composizione ha recentemente attirato l’attenzione degli studiosi in relazione al crescente numero di neologismi creati negli ultimi decenni. Lungi dall’essere un fenomeno recente, la formazione di parole composte è attestata in italiano fin dalla fase antica: questo volume ne delinea per la prima volta un profilo dalle Origini all’età contemporanea, mettendo in luce gli elementi di continuità con il latino e gli aspetti innovativi. L’analisi, articolata in due parti – la prima focalizzata sull’italiano antico, la seconda sui secoli successivi – si serve degli strumenti teorici della Morfologia delle Costruzioni, per descrivere e interpretare il meccanismo di composizione da un punto di vista sia formale sia semantico. Il volume è corredato di un’appendice in cui sono riportati i composti analizzati e i dati quantitativi relativi alle frequenze. This volume provides a detailed overview of compounding in Italian, from the earliest stages until today. Based on an analysis of data from different corpora, it describes the compound words that Italian has created in the course of the centuries, highlighting elements of continuity with Latin as well as innovative aspects.

    La lauda ‘O Battista glorioxo’ conosce una larga diffusione nel Tre e Quattrocento: il modesto componimento, che ogni copista si sente autorizzato a modificare e a completare, circola tra l’aria tosco-umbra, il Veneto e la Lombardia. Il presente volume propone l’edizione del testo contenuto nel codice Cignardi (Milano, c. 1430), che è uno dei testimoni più rappresentativi della “versione lunga”. L’edizione è corredata da una serie di studi filologici e linguistici, che pur prestando una costante attenzione alla tradizione del testo cercano in primo luogo di evidenziare le peculiarità del componimento fissato sulle carte dell’attuale codice Ambrosiano. Nella lauda sul Battista si profila fra l’altro un registro piuttosto neutro, poco caratterizzato in senso milanese, che si distacca sensibilmente da altri testi trascritti dallo stesso copista. È in preparazione un secondo volume, che insieme alla ricostruzione dell’archetipo fornirà un’ampia panoramica della tradizione del testo.

    Dieser Band widmet sich der Diskussion von Theorien und Methodiken einer diachron orientierten Varietätenlinguistik. Ausgangspunkt der hier versammelten Beiträge ist dabei die These, dass die Geschichtsschreibung einer Sprache sich nicht nur auf eine exemplarische (Standard-)Varietät beziehen darf, sondern dass die systematische Berücksichtigung sprachlicher Heterogenität gerade auch in diachronen Studien unabdingbar ist. Vor diesem Hintergrund arbeiten die AutorInnen in ihren Beiträgen theoretische und methodische Probleme und Perspektiven einer zeitgemäßen diachronen Varietätenlinguistik heraus und illustrieren diese anhand konkreter Fallbeispiele aus der gesamten Romania

    The volume investigates the reception of Senecan tragedies during Humanism, focusing on printed editions and on translations in Florentine vernacular language. The first chapter summarizes the manuscript transmission of the tragedies up to the first age of printing, with a glimpse to their possible theatrical representations. The second chapter contains the description of the printed editions from the princeps (before 1478) to the three-comment edition by Josse Bade (1514): I analysed the main paratexts, with a focus on the commentaries by Gellio Bernardino Marmitta, Daniele Caetani, and Josse Bade, and reconstructed the identities of the personalities who contributed to the publication of the tragedies. The third chapter offers a stylistic study of the five vernacular translations produced up to the year 1498. In the volume I publish the translations by Evangelista Fossa (Agamennone) and Pizio da Montevarchi (Hercule furent and Hyppolito), which lacked a modern edition

    Il presente saggio costituisce la seconda edizione (notevolmente) ampliata del saggio omonimo, pubblicato la prima volta dal Centro Studi Anthologia Latina di Perugia nel 2016 ed esaurito in breve volger di tempo. Scaturito dalla consapevolezza che, nella teoria come nella prassi editoriale, il divario tra congettura e restituzione appare talora quasi impercettibile, il saggio si propone di mostrare, con numerosi exempla critico-testuali pertinenti ad autori che vanno da Ovidio alla fine dell’età tardoantica, che anche la migliore congettura ope ingenii – ritenuta ‘palmare’ dalla comunità scientifica – vel raro vel numquam può aspirare a sanare il testo in maniera definitiva e incontrovertibile. La scelta pragmatica effettuata (affiancare a congetture comunemente accreditate altre congetture che mirano a scalzarle, nell’intento di mettere a nudo la precarietà di ogni congettura in quanto tale) consente di entrare subito e in maniera concreta nel merito della discussione su come è e come si fa o andrebbe fatta una congettura. Per cui il criterio di esposizione rovescia, in certo senso, il metodo tradizionale in quanto non detta regole in astratto e fa vedere come si procede nel discutere e sanare testi che presentano corruttele, anche non immediatamente evidenti. In questo senso, il saggio rappresenta una sintesi tra teoria e prassi ecdotica.****************The present essay constitutes the second (considerably) increased edition of the essay with the same title, published for the first time by “Centro Studi Anthologia Latina” in Perugia in 2016 and sold out in a short space of time. Arising from the awareness that, in theory as in editorial practice, the gap between conjecture and restitution sometimes appears almost imperceptible, the essay aims to show, with numerous textual exempla pertinent to authors ranging from Ovid to the end of the late ancient age, that even the best conjecture ope ingenii – considered evident by the scientific community – vel raro vel numquam can aspire to remedy the text in a definitive and incontrovertible way. The pragmatic choice made (alongside commonly accepted conjectures with other conjectures that aim to undermine them, in order to reveal the precariousness of each conjecture as such) allows to enter immediately and concretely in the merit of the discussion on how it is and how conjecture is made or should be made. So the exposure criterion reverses, in a certain sense, the traditional method in that it does not dictate rules in the abstract and shows how we proceed in discussing and remedying texts that present corruptions, even if not immediately evident. In this sense, the essay represents a synthesis between ecdotic theory and practice.
