    Zusammenfassung: This book represents a contribution to the study of phonetic reduction. It presents the first quantitative investigation of acoustic-phonetic reduction in Icelandic and deals with the reduction patterns of a class of Icelandic adverbs ending in the suffix –lega. Three questions are asked: Which factors influence the reduction patterns of these adverbs? How do the factors compare to those found for other languages? Which conclusions can be drawn from adverb reduction about the possible mental storage of reduced forms? The data used for this study are both corpus-based and experiment-based. The corpus-based part investigates a range of factors that could influence reduction, most importantly adverb token frequency and metrical rhythm. Two experimental studies further investigate the production of reduction patterns. In a shadowing task, metrical rhythm and frequency are studied in closer detail and a reading task provides additional data for a comparison between data types. From these data, conclusions are drawn about the nature of adverb reduction in Icelandic and the factors that influence reduction patterns Zusammenfassung: Das vorliegende Buch stellt einen Beitrag zur Erforschung von phonetischer Reduktion dar. Es enthält die erste quantitative Untersuchung von akustisch-phonetischer Reduktion im Isländischen. Gegenstand sind dabei die Reduktionsmuster einer Gruppen von isländischen Adverbien mit dem Suffix -lega. Drei Forschungsfragen liegen der Arbeit zu Grunde: Welche Faktoren beeinflussen die Reduktionsmuster dieser Adverbien? Inwieweit sind diese Faktoren vergleichbar mit den für andere Sprachen gefundenen? Welche Schlüsse lassen sich aus der Adverbreduktion ziehen in Bezug auf mögliche mentale Speicherung von reduzierten Formen? Für die Arbeit werden sowohl korpusbasierte als auch experimentelle Daten verwendet. Die korpusbasierte Analyse untersucht eine Reihe von Faktoren, die Reduktion beeinflussen könnten, dabei vor allem Token-Frequenz und metrischen Rhythmus. Zwei experimentelle Studien untersuchen die Produktion von reduzierten Formen weiterhin. In einem Shadowing-Task werden die Faktoren "Rhythmus" und "Frequenz" noch genauer betrachtet. In einem Lese-Experiment werden Daten erhoben, die einen Vergleich zwischen den verschiedenen Daten-Typen ermöglichen. Von dieser Datengrundlage aus werden Schlüsse gezogen über die Eigenschaften der Adverbreduktion im Isländischen und über die Faktoren, die Reduktion beeinflussen
