    "From telephones and transoceanic telegraphy to typewriters and phonographs, the era of Bell and Edison brought an array of wondrous new technologies for recording and communication. At the same time, print was becoming a mass medium, as works from newspapers to novels exploited new markets and innovations in publishing to address expanded readerships. Amid the accelerated movements of inventions and language, questions about media change became a transatlantic topic, connecting writers from Whitman to Kipling, Mark Twain to Bram Stoker and Marie Corelli. Media multiplicity seemed either to unite societies or bring division and conflict, to emphasize the material nature of communication or its transcendent side, to highlight distinctions between media or to let them be ignored. Literature, Print Culture, and Media Technologies, 1880-1900 analyzes this ferment as an urgent subject as authors sought to understand the places of printed writing in the late nineteenth century's emerging media cultures"--

La intensa labor de búsqueda, el examen directo del mayor número posible de ejemplares de cada edición, y una descripción apoyada en criterios técnicos y científicos convierten esta obra en un referente de la historiografía de Sevilla. La Imprenta en Sevilla en el siglo XVI (1520-1600) se une a la serie de trabajos que en las últimas décadas, desde que en los años ochenta se pusiera en marcha el proyecto Tipobibliografía española, ha enriquecido de forma tan notable el paisaje bibliográfico en España. Sin quitar mérito a los trabajos anteriores en este campo, es esta sin duda la contribución más importante que se haya hecho nunca al conocimiento de la imprenta hispalense del siglo XVI, por la exhaustividad del repertorio, el rigor de las noticias, y el enorme interés de los estudios introductorios. -

    "In the early modern period, printing was the only means of disseminating a text or message reliably to a large number of people. Print could serve all kinds of purposes, ranging from religious education to scientific debate, from state propaganda to open political subversion, from proclamations and the reporting of news to the provision of entertaining fictional reading. But the printing industry was also one of the most complex, labour-intensive and investment-dependent sectors of the early modern economy, involving a huge range of very specialised and skilled manual labour as well as a range of associated trades (see Figure 1). It required considerable infrastructure, management and marketing skills, and was subject to severe market fluctuations with high risks. These conflicting pressures were not matched by any substantial technological change in the printing industry from the middle of the fifteenth century right through to the Napoleonic period. So despite gaining a solid footing in the economies of many large prosperous cities, the increase in the use of print for particular purposes was unsteady, and its geographic spread surprisingly uneven"

    "The Typographic Imaginary in Early Modern English Literature contributes to an understanding of how printing changed early modern English literary culture. Rachel Stenner discusses printers' manuals, William Caxton's paratexts, Robert Copland's dramatic dialogues, the prose fictions of William Baldwin, George Gascoigne and Thomas Nashe, and the courtly poetry of Edmund Spenser.
