    Der Autor beschäftigt sich intensiv mit den umfangreichen Bibliotheken von Java 8 - also eine Fortsetzung des 1. Werkes, dessen 1. Auflage hier jedoch nicht besprochen wurde (Java 7 ...; mehr als eine Insel : das Handbuch zu den Java SE-Bibliotheken", 2012). Die ersten Kapitel beschreiben noch einmal die Neuerungen und Änderungen von Java 7 und 8. Das ist vertiefend insbesondere dann wichtig, wenn es um die Kapitel "Raum und Zeit", dem als Swing-Nachfolger gehandeltem Java FX und die eingehend behandelte Stringverarbeitung oder "Threads und Collections" geht. Weiterhin wichtige Aspekte von Java wie "Annotationen", das Thema "Logging und Monitoring" oder Datensicherheit werden behandelt. Der Link zum E-Book ist nur einmalig zu benutzen.
