Este artigo apresenta uma leitura do filme alemão "Toni Erdmann" (2016), dirigido por Maren Ade, a partir da indagação a respeito dos modos através dos quais ele analisa os processos contemporâneos de modernização na Europa. Para tanto, será feita também uma reflexão sobre a apropriação que o filme faz de certos modos de encenação épica propostos por Bertolt Brecht. A parte final do artigo sugere uma aproximação entre o filme e a peça "Mãe Coragem e seus filhos" ("Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder", 1939). ; This paper aims to analyze the German film "Toni Erdmann" (2016), by Maren Ade, in order to look at the way in which it probes into contemporary modernization processes in Europe. To do so, we also propose a reflection about the film's appropriation of some of the elements of epic dramaturgy proposed by Bertolt Brecht. The final part of the essay suggests an approximation between the film and the play "Mother Courage and her children" ("Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder", 1939).
