    In diesem Band sind 21 (zum Teil erweiterte) Referate enthalten, die anlässlich der Internationalen Tagung zum Thema «Satz und Text. Zur Relevanz syntaktischer Strukturen zur Textkonstitution» vom 21. bis 23. September 2011 an der Universität Warschau gehalten wurden. Das Hauptthema der Tagung war die Relevanz syntaktischer Strukturen zur Textkonstitution, daher konzentrieren sich die Beiträge auf die Analyse solcher syntaktischen Elemente, die auf der Satz- und Textebene in verschiedenen Textsorten eine textverknüpfende Funktion haben. Gegenstand der Analyse sind unterschiedliche Textsorten und Textgattungen. Als empirische Grundlagen dienen hier neben religiösen Texten auch chronikalische Aufzeichnungen, Ratsprotokolle, Privatbriefe adliger Frauen und literarische Texte. Die meisten Beiträge konzentrieren sich auf die frühneuhochdeutsche Periode, in drei Beiträgen steht die althochdeutsche Periode im Zentrum der Analyse und drei weitere Beiträge behandeln die syntaktischen Strukturen in der neuhochdeutschen Zeit.

    Approaching the Hebrew Bible as a work of literary art, Yair Mazor examines its many genres, including historical narratives, poetic narratives, poetry, psalms, and songs. Line drawings from a late nineteenth-century Bible illustrate many of the most famous scenes in scripture, suggesting another aesthetic layer of the text. By breaking the Bible into constituent parts, Mazor traces the range of its writing styles, reconfiguring the work as a literary collage and an artistic masterpiece. He shows how the aesthetics of the texts that comprise the Bible serve its over-arching message, and he develops a literary portrait of its authors by decoding their cryptic aesthetic devices
