    The purpose of this paper is to compare two prologs, namely 'Prolog im Himmel' in "Faust I" and the prolog in "Der gute Mensch von Sezuan" by Brecht. The comparative analysis of the two texts provides evidence to state that Brecht produces a parody of Goethe's prolog. This procedure is interpreted here as a feature of 20th century literature. Intertextuality and recreation are seen as a way to characterize a shapeless present and are approached by drawing an analogy and critically comparing and contrasting Brecht's prolog to a literary masterpiece. O propósito desse trabalho é tecer um paralelo entre os prólogos do "Faust I", o "prólogo no céu" de Goethe e o prólogo da peça de Brecht "Der gute Mensch von Sezuan". A análise comparativa dos dois textos oferece subsídios para se afirmar que Brecht cria uma paródia do prólogo goethiano, procedimento que será interpretado como uma das características da literatura do século XX. Tal recurso de intertextualidade e de recriação será visto como uma forma de caracterizar o presente amorfo a partir do confronto e da analogia, com visão crítica, de uma obra consagrada da tradição.

    The purpose of this paper is to present a discussion of some of the main characteristics of Robert Walser's short story "Kleist in Thun", in an attempt to reflect on how the literary text can establish a dialogue with tradition. This is achieved by the fictionalisation of the character of a real author, more specifically by the narrative genre often used by Walser: the portrayal. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar algumas das principais características do conto "Kleist in Thun", de Robert Walser, na tentativa de refletir sobre como o texto literário é capaz de estabelecer um diálogo com a tradição, através da ficcionalização da figura de um autor, especificamente através de um gênero narrativo praticado por Walser, o retrato.

    Partimos do pressuposto que os escritores, ao longo da história, sempre se utilizaram de estratégias encenatórias tanto em relação às suas obras como às suas figuras públicas, e de que o fazem não só para se estabelecer no campo literário, mas para o fazê-lo de um modo específico (JÜRGENSEN; KAYSER, 2011; BOURDIEU, 2000). Tendo em vista o último romance de Christian Kracht, "Die Toten" (2016), cujo título pode ser livremente traduzido como "Os Mortos", e as relações intertextuais que podem ser estabelecidas com o conto homônimo de James Joyce (1914) e sua adaptação para o cinema dirigida por John Huston (1987), temos por objetivo investigar de que modo essas relações contribuem para a encenação de Christian Kracht e para seu posicionamento no campo literário. Theoretischer Ansatz dieses Beitrags ist die Annahme, dass Schriftsteller inszenatorische Strategien mit Bezug auf ihr Werk und auf ihre öffentliche Figur verwenden, nicht nur um sich im literarischen Feld zu etablieren, sondern auch um dies gezielt zu machen (JÜRGENSEN; KAYSER, 2011). Ziel ist, intertextuelle Beziehungen zwischen Christian Krachts Roman "Die Toten" (2016), James Joyces Kurzgeschichte "The Dead" (1914) und deren von John Huston gleichnamigen kinematographischen Adaptation (1987) aufzuzeigen, und Überlegungen zu dem Einfluss anzustellen, den diese intertextuellen Beziehungen auf Krachts Inszenierung und auf seine Positionierung im Feld haben.

    O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o último romance de Christian Kracht, "Die Toten" ("Os Mortos", 2016), a partir da ótica da encenação textual e autoral, ou seja, examinando o texto em suas configurações linguísticas e relações intertextuais; e o autor em sua presença midiática - através da qual se encena de modo ambíguo e estabelece relações entre sua figura autoral e o personagem principal de sua obra. O conceito de campo literário de Bourdieu (1996) e de paratexto de Genette (1989) oferecem subsídios teóricos para a abordagem feita. Percebe-se que Kracht, em "Die Toten", utiliza várias estratégias para refletir sobre a própria obra. The objective of this article is to analyze Christian Kracht's latest novel, "Die Toten" ("The Dead", 2016), from the perspective of textual and authorial staging, that is, examining the text in its linguistic configurations and intertextual relations; and the author in his mediatic presence - which he uses to stage himself in an ambiguous way and to establish relations between his authorial figure and the main character of his novel. The concepts of literary field (BOURDIEU, 1996) and that of paratext (GENETTE, 1989) offer a theoretical framework for this approach. It becomes apparent that Kracht, in "Die Toten", applies different strategies to reflect about his own work.
