    Die unterschiedliche Informationsstrukturierung chinesischer und deutscher Texte bildet den Ausgangspunkt dieser Untersuchung. Während in der deutschen Kultur eine gewisse "Direktheit" in der Themenentfaltung erwartet wird, wird in der chinesischen Kultur in ähnlichen Situationen eine stärkere "Indirektheit" verlangt. In dieser Studie wird die Problematik der unterschiedlichen Textorganisation von chinesischen und deutschen Firmen-Selbstdarstellungen im Internet aus der Perspektive der Übersetzungswissenschaft diskutiert. Ihre Ergebnisse können auch für die Untersuchung der Übersetzungsprobleme chinesischer induktiv strukturierter Texte in andere westliche Sprachen, deren Textorganisation deduktiv ist, von Nutzen sein.

    In this article, we discuss how contrastivity can be identified in historical texts where we have no direct access to prosodic features such as stress and intonation. We depart from our knowledge of contrastivity in the modern languages and their exponence in Modern Spanish and Portuguese, where both word order and prosody play a role in expressing contrast, and compare the analysis of the modern languages to our data of Old Spanish and Old Portuguese.     This study explores the grammar of focus particles in German. It gives a thorough description and analysis of focus particle constructions and links their syntactic, semantic, and information structural properties to their prosodic characteristics. The study also shows that focus particles present a particularly well-suited subject for the investigation of the modularity of grammar in general. The first part of the book deals with the syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of focus particle constructions and results in a modular account of the relation between their word order, information structur.

    Auch neuere pragmatisch orientierte Ansätze zur Informationsstruktur greifen für die Explikation der Satztopik-Kategorie auf die traditionelle Unterscheidung von Satzgegenstand und Satzaussage zurück und deuten das Satztopik – unter Rückgriff auf bestimmte kognitive und kommunikative Strukturierungsprinzipien – als Bestandteil der sogenannten Aboutness-Relation: Prädizierende Sätze lassen sich aufgliedern in dasjenige, worüber etwas ausgesagt wird, und dasjenige, was darüber ausgesagt wird. Ausgehend von der These, dass es im Deutschen keine explizit ausgewiesene syntaktische Position für Satztopiks gibt, geht dieser Band der Frage nach, welche diskursiven Bedingungen für die Aboutness-Relation vorausgesetzt sein müssen und über welche Eigenschaften Diskursreferenten mit Topikstatus verfügen.

    Gegenstand dieses Buches sind Phänomene an der Syntax-Pragmatik-Schnittstelle, z.B. die Vorfeldbesetzung, Versetzungsstrukturen an den Satzrändern, die Verbstellung, zentrale vs. periphere Nebensätze. Das Ziel ist es, anhand der betrachteten Strukturen aufzuzeigen, inwiefern bestimmte (syntaktisch auffällige) Strukturen mit bestimmten Diskursfunktionen/informationsstrukturellen Status einhergehen.
