    "From the Democratic press ... We have received a long and interesting communication from "an American citizen," on the subject of Unitarianism, in the Austrian dominions. After reading and considering it more than once, we have concluded not to publish it. ... If the communication ... were published, I should feel myself bound in justice, to publish such corrections ... as might, and probably would, be offered on behalf of the Christian society, accused of persecution. This would lead to reply, and I should ... find the columns of my paper filled ... with religious controversy. ..."--p. [3]

    "To the Christian citizens ... It is now proposed to publish this communication in the form of a pamphlet. ... If one hundred subscribers, at a quarter dollar for each copy, can be procured--"The Communication" will be put to press immediately. ..."--p. [4]. Signed: An American citizen.
