    Welchen Beitrag können filmische Praxen und Erzeugnisse zur Reproduktion von Migrations- und Grenzregimes leisten?Ausgehend von der Annahme, dass audiovisuelle Umgebungen die Bewegungen der Migration sowohl informieren als auch formieren, analysiert Brigitta Kuster Filmklassiker ebenso wie (künstlerische) Dokumentarfilme, die meist illegale Grenzpassagen nach Europa reflektieren. Hierbei berücksichtigt sie in ihrer Studie auch das filmische Archiv rund um den durch den Film »Terminal« bekannt gewordenen Fall des Mehran Karimi Nasseri, der beinahe zwei Jahrzehnte lang auf dem Pariser Flughafen Charles de Gaulle lebte, sowie die popkulturellen und YouTube-Umgebungen der Harraga

    Wie intervenieren Theaterprojekte in eine rassistisch strukturierte Gesellschaft und ihre Identitätskonstruktionen?Aus postkolonialer Perspektive und mit Blick u.a. auf postmigrantisches Theater oder die Kontroverse um Blackfacing an deutschen Bühnen zeichnet Tania Meyer Strategien rassismuskritischer Theaterarbeit nach.Sie stellt Theaterprojekte vor, die das dominanzgesellschaftliche Narrativ über die Aufklärung als 'europäische Errungenschaft', mit dem Identitäten des Eigenen und Anderen konstruiert werden, zur Debatte stellen. Die Studie öffnet den Blick auf die historischen Dimensionen rassistischer Unterscheidungspraxen und ihre Tradierungen bis in die Gegenwart und ist zugleich ein Plädoyer zur Repolitisierung von Theater und Theaterpädagogik How do theater projects intervene in a structurally racist society and its constructions of identity? From a postcolonial perspective and addressing subjects such as 'second generation' theater and the controversies around blackface on German stages, Tania Meyer sketches out a number of strategies of anti-racist theater work. She presents theater projects that problematize the dominant social narratives on the enlightenment as a 'European achievement', with which identities of the self and the Other are constructed. The study calls attention to the historical dimensions of racist practices of differentiation and their traditions, tracing them through to the present moment, and at the same time is a plea for the re-politicization of theater and drama teaching

    The British Library’s collection of approximately 1000 Syriac manuscripts is one of the world’s richest collections of materials for the study of Syriac Christianity. These manuscripts were catalogued in the nineteenth century shortly after a large collection of over 500 manuscripts were acquired by the British from the monastery of Dayr al-Suryān in Egypt. This article examines the intellectual assumptions that guided the nineteenth-century cataloguing efforts and offers a methodological proposal for how a new digital catalogue of the manuscripts could and should differ. New methods of digital representation can permit users to engage the Dayr al-Suryān manuscripts and the whole of the British Library Syriac collection from multiple, varied, and even conflicting perspectives. Several such digital approaches are being implemented in Syriaca.org’s digital catalogue of the British Library Syriac manuscripts. The diversity of such digital approaches promises to open new insights into the history of Christianity in late antiquity and beyond.

    While the subject of racism is currently drawing social attention increasingly, the presence of racist structures and stereotypes in the most diverse areas of contemporary German society is being proven and exposed. Against this background, the research shed light on the importance of German-language children’s literature for the internalisation of racist thought patterns. Based on close reading of selected contemporary children’s books, the re_production and communication of various manifestations of racism are analysed. From an intersectional perspective, standards of anti-discrimination in the literary world are recommended to promote more diversity in children’s literature and anti-racist thinking.
