    In the research on the Pentateuch, Genesis 14 is regarded as an enigmatic text. Being one of the few texts where Abraham seems to be related to world history, it could potentially tell us when the patriarch lived. Thus, there have been attempts to relate the text to ANE archaeology and history. However, others argue it is one of the latest additions to the patriarchal narratives - albeit without arguing thoroughly for it.     The Hebrew Bible is a product of ancient editing, but to what degree can this editing be uncovered? "Uncovering Ancient Editing" argues that divergent textual witnesses of the same text, so-called documented evidence, should be the starting point for such an endeavor. The book presents a fresh analysis of Josh 24 and related texts as a test case for refining our knowledge of how scribes edited texts. Josh 24 is envisioned as a gradually growing Persian period text, whose editorial history can be reconstructed with the help of documented evidence preserved in the MT, LXX, and other ancient sources. This study has major implications for both the study of the book of Joshua and text-historical methodology in general

    So fremd die Johannesapokalypse manchmal scheinen mag, so sehr ist sie ein es höchst durchdachtes, spannungsvolles und in mancher Hinsicht einzigartiges literarisches Werk von erstaunlicher Qualität und einigem theologischem Gewicht. Vor diesem Hintergrund würdigen die Beiträge des vorliegenden Bandes die Sprache der Apokalypse wie ihre stilistische und literarische Konzeption. Diskutiert werden Raum- und Zeitmodelle in der Johannesapokalypse, gefragt wird nach der Bedeutung von Büchern für die Gesamtkonzeption des Textes, dazu das Problem diskutiert, inwiefern die Johannesapokalypse als "phantastische Literatur" bezeichnet werden könne. Eine Reihe von Studien beschäftigt sich mit intertextuellen Bezügen der Johannesapokalypse. Dabei liegt naturgemäß ein Schwerpunkt auf dem Verhältnis des Textes zu Schriften und Motiven des Alten Testaments wie des frühen Judentums; neu gestellt jedoch werden auch Fragen nach dem Zueinander zum Vierten Evangelium oder zu Schriften der hellenistisch-römischen Welt wie zu Aspekten ihrer Rezeptionsgeschichte.

Being one of the few texts where Abraham seems to be related to world history, it could potentially tell us when the patriarch lived. Thus, there have been attempts to relate the text to ANE archaeology and history. However, others argue it is one of the latest additions to the patriarchal narratives - albeit without arguing thoroughly for it.     Eine Untersuchung zum intertextuellen und historischen Ort der paulinischen Pseudepigraphie. Die Verfasser der Pastoralbriefe möchten den Anschein erwecken, als ob diese von Paulus selbst stammten. In dieser Untersuchung wird erstmals die Methode literaturwissenschaftlicher Intertextualitäts-Forschung auf die paulinische Pseudepigraphie angewendet. Es handelt sich um fiktive Selbstauslegung durch fingierte Selbstreferenzen. Dies ermöglicht eine konkrete historische Verortung der Pastoralbriefe im Streit konkurrierender Paulus-Schulen um dessen Erbe. Bereits Ignatius von Antiochien und Polykarp von Smyrna verdanken ihr Bild von Paulus eindeutig auch den Pastoralbriefen.

    In the research on the Pentateuch, Genesis 14 is regarded as an enigmatic text. Being one of the few texts where Abraham seems to be related to world history, it could potentially tell us when the patriarch lived. Thus, there have been attempts to relate the text to ANE archaeology and history. However, others argue it is one of the latest additions to the patriarchal narratives - albeit without arguing thoroughly for it. In this book, it is thoroughly argued for Genesis 14 having originated from scribal activity in Second Temple times: several earlier biblical texts have served as templates

    The Hebrew Bible is a product of ancient editing, but to what degree can this editing be uncovered? "Uncovering Ancient Editing" argues that divergent textual witnesses of the same text, so-called documented evidence, should be the starting point for such an endeavor. The book presents a fresh analysis of Josh 24 and related texts as a test case for refining our knowledge of how scribes edited texts. Josh 24 is envisioned as a gradually growing Persian period text, whose editorial history can be reconstructed with the help of documented evidence preserved in the MT, LXX, and other ancient sources. This study has major implications for both the study of the book of Joshua and text-historical methodology in general

With a unique compilation of intertexts of Gen 1.1-5, the work explores the intertexual reach of Day One in Hebrew and Greek texts up to c. 200 CE. What emerges is a glimpse of the intertextuality of Day One that provides insight into the complexity of the intertextuality of a biblical text and the relationship of intertextuality and interpretation.
