The Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services is a joint publication of six agencies:- the UN, EC, IMF, OECD, UNCTAD, and WTO. It addresses a growing demand from governments, businesses and analysts for more relevant, detailed and internationally comparable statistics on services trade. Special emphasis is given to the statistical information needs of international trade negotiations and agreements. The Manual provides a coherent internationally-agreed conceptual framework within which countries can structure the statistics they compile and report on international services trade. It builds on and links to existing standards, in particular the fifth edition of the International Monetary Fund's Balance of Payments Manual and the 1993 System of National Accounts. It categorises the services that are traded internationally, and how they are traded in practice, taking into account the modes of supply of services

"This book argues that increasing engagement between international institutions and sectors of civil society is producing a new form of global governance. The authors investigate 'complex multilateralism' by studying the relationship between three multilateral economic institutions (the IMF, World Bank, and World Trade Organization), and three global social movements (environmental, labour, and women's movements). They provide a comparative analysis of the institutional response to social movement pressure, tracing institutional change, policy modification and social movement tactics as they struggle to influence the rules and practices governing trade, finance and development regimes."--Jacket

  5. La ville de Brody au cours du long 19e siècle : l'histoire d'une contre-performance ; The Town of Brody in the Long Nineteenth Century : a History of Failure ?

; Brody, a town today lying in Western Ukraine, became a border town of the Habsburg Empire following the First Partition of Poland in 1772. This thesis embraces a timespan of almost 150 years, excluding the First World War. It examines Brody’s economic and social history in the first two sections; the third section is dedicated to the perception of the town’s Austrian past. The most important material which serves as the basis for this work are archival sources mainly holdings in L’viv, Vienna, Paris and Kraków as well as published sources such as statistics, administrative handbooks and travel reports.
