    Today, Digital Humanities are viewed from different perspectives: as an academic subject or discipline with a distinct agenda; as a bundle of research methods; as a communication, information and publication infrastructure; as a practice that changes our epistemologies; or simply as a label to take part in funding programmes. Debates arise whether all forms of digitization of our research and teaching can be considered Digital Humanities (which would mean that we are all digital humanists), or whether only systematic and self-reflexive research approaches using expert software that advance our research methodologies should count as Digital Humanities – and where to draw the dividing line between these two areas. Obviously, there is a wide range of qualified answers to this question, and consensus between different disciplines and countries varies widely. With the process of institutionalization underway or well advanced in numerous European countries, we – the editors of the German information platform for historians H-Soz-Kult – think that a review and evaluation of the evolution of Digital Humanities in Europe is a timely task.

    Der Text ist die überarbeitete Fassung eines am 27.6.2018 vorgetragenen Berichts von der Digitalisierung und Erschließung der Glasdiasammlung des Instituts für Kunst- und Bildgeschichte der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Hierbei werden vier Elemente der konzeptionellen Grundlage des Projekts, das nach Prinzipien des open access arbeitet, erläutert, nämlich die Zielstellung, das Digitalisierungskonzept, das Erschließungskonzept und das Prinzip des flächendeckenden Vorgehens. Außerdem werden erste Beispiele für inhaltliche Erkenntnisse gezeigt, die durch die digitale Erschließung ermöglicht wurden, insbesondere die Zuordnung von einzelnen Dias zu Personen des damaligen Lehrkörpers, wie etwa Heinrich Wölfflin, Oskar Wulff, oder Adolph Goldschmidt. The text is the revised version of a report presented on 27 June 2018 on the digitisation and cataloguing of the glass slide collection of the Department for Art and Visual History of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Four elements of the conceptual basis of the project, which focusses on the principles of open access, are explained: the objective, the digitisation concept, the indexing concept and the principle of a full coverage approach. In addition, the first examples of insights into the content made possible by digital indexing are shown, in particular the attribution of individual slides to persons of the former faculty, such as Heinrich Wölfflin, Oskar Wulff, or Adolph Goldschmidt.     Mit der Digitalisierung des Films eröffnen sich neue Methoden und Forschungsfelder, denn die Wahrnehmung von Filmgeschichte hat sich durch diesen Umbruch nachhaltig verändert. Video-Streaming ist dabei eingebettet in einen Knotenpunkt zwischen Zugang zu Filmwerken, aber auch neuen Formen der Rezeption und Filmgeschichtsschreibung in Forschung und Lehre. Methoden und Werkzeuge der Digital Humanities sind ein vielversprechendes Feld für die Erforschung von Filmen, ihrer Geschichte, der Ästhetik und Narration. Entwicklungen in den Forschungsprojekten zu Filmfarben am Seminar für Filmwissenschaft der Universität Zürich zeigen exemplarisch auf, welche Potenziale mit den neuen Technologien und Ansätzen verbunden sind. The digitization of film opens up new methods and fields of research, because the perception of film history has changed permanently as a result of this transition. Video streaming is changing access to films but enables also new forms of reception and film historiography in research and teaching. Digital humanities methods and tools are a promising field for researching films, their history, aesthetics and narration. In the framework of research projects on film colors at the Department of Film Studies at the University of Zurich a variety of such developments have been developed that are exemplary for the potential associated with the new technologies and approaches.     Philological practices have served to secure and transmit textual sources for centuries. However - this volume contends -, it is only in the light of the current radical media change labeled 'digital turn' that the material and technological prerequisites of the theory and practice of philology become fully visible. The seventeen studies by scholars from the universities of Budapest and Cologne assembled here investigate these recent transformations of our techniques of writing and reading by critically examining core approaches to the history and epistemology of the humanities. Thus, a broad praxeological overview of basic cultural techniques of collective memory is unfolded.

    Neue Technologien bedeuten neue Herausforderungen für das Recht. Das Internet ist kein Neuland mehr, kritische Themen wie Cyberattacken, Privatsphäre, der Schutz Minderjähriger oder auch das Cloud Computing sind jedoch keinesfalls ausdiskutiert. Die zunehmende Digitalisierung und Technisierung beschränkt sich nicht auf das World Wide Web. Der automatisierte Straßenverkehr ist ein ebenso zukunftsweisendes Thema, dessen Entwicklung rechtlich begleitet werden muss.     This essay examines complexities that attend digitizing a cultural heritage artifact that is sacred to a contemporary community. It argues that scholars must first determine how the artifact participates in the life of its community. If this participation is integral, scholars should treat the artifact as a present-day cultural phenomenon, inseparable from its community. To explain the implications of this shift, the author turns to ethnography, which has a lengthy tradition of interacting with communities for generating research. Photographing a sacred artifact is not unlike other ethnographic research, whether tape recording stories, collecting documents, or gathering information about social practices. To guide digital work, the essay proposes ethnographic ethical principles, demonstrating their value in digitizing the 8th-century St Chad Gospels at Lichfield Cathedral, England—supporting Jamie Bianco's recent call for an "ethical turn" in the digital humanities.
