    The present article recapitulates the Brazilian translations of Wilhelm Busch and points out that some publication circumstances have led to a biased reception of his work exclusively as children's literature in this country. Among other translation strategies which could contribute to extend the reading public of his work to an adult audience, this article proposes that the Knittelvers should be translated into Portuguese as a jambic ten-syllable line. An annotated translation of Busch's illustrated poem "Hänsel und Gretel", in this metric pattern, tests in which extent the conscious choice of rhythm and the attainment of cultural associations triggered by it can intensify the ironical effect of this mock fairy tale. Este artigo recapitula as traduções de Wilhelm Busch publicadas no Brasil e aponta que determinadas circunstâncias de publicação levaram a uma recepção unilateral de sua obra exclusivamente como literatura infantil nesse país. Entre outras estratégias que poderiam estender para uma faixa etária adulta o público leitor da poesia humorística buschiana, propõe-se que o Knittelvers seja traduzido para o português como decassílabo iâmbico. Uma tradução anotada do poema "Hänsel und Gretel" nesse padrão métrico-acentual testa em que medida a escolha consciente de um ritmo e o aproveitamento de associações culturais desencadeadas por ele podem destacar o efeito irônico desse pseudoconto-de-fada. Dieser Artikel rekapituliert die brasilianischen Übersetzungen von Wilhelm Busch und weist darauf hin, dass manche Veröffentlichungsumstände in diesem Land zu einer einseitigen Rezeption seines Werkes ausschließlich als Kinderliteratur geführt haben. Unter anderen Übersetzungsstrategien, die zu einer Erweiterung seiner Rezeption durch einerwachsenes Lesepublikum beitragen könnten, wird vorgeschlagen, dass der Knittelvers ins Portugiesische als ein jambischer zehnsilbigen Vers übersetzt wird. Eine kommentierte Übersetzung der Bildergeschichte "Hänsel und Gretel" in diesem metrischen Muster überprüft in welchem Maß der bewusste Gebrauch von Rhythmus und die Beachtung mancher kultureller Assoziationen von Metrik die ironische Wirkung dieses Pseudo-Märchens verstärken können.

    The main purpose of this paper is to present an overview of the results of an empirical research involving adult learners of German as a foreign language with previous knowledge of English. It focuses on some of the processes related to the learning/teaching of third languages, taking into consideration that the German language is usually learned as a second foreign language, especially after English. The main questions of the research are based on positive transfer processes as well as linguistic interference observed in a group of 50 learners of German, levels A1 to B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. As for what concerns the relationship between English and German, the assumption that English exerts an important role in the learning process of German could be confirmed, being the etymological relationship between languages one of the most important elements in order to determine the occurrence of cross-linguistic influence. On the other hand, the linguistic interference that results from the coexistence of both languages in the learner’s brain demands the development of a plurilingualism didactic that embraces alternative methods for the teaching/learning of German as a second foreign language in Brazil. O objetivo principal deste artigo é apresentar uma visão geral dos resultados obtidos em uma pesquisa empírica envolvendo aprendizes adultos de alemão como língua estrangeira com conhecimentos prévios de inglês. O foco deste artigo recai sobre os processos envolvidos no ensino/aprendizagem de terceiras línguas, levando-se em consideração que a língua alemã é comumente aprendida como uma segunda língua estrangeira após o inglês. Os principais questionamentos da pesquisa estão baseados em processos de transferência positiva, bem como na interferência linguística observada em um grupo de 50 aprendizes de alemão dos níveis A1 a B1 do Quadro Europeu Comum de Referência para as Línguas. Ao que concerne a relação entre as línguas alemã e inglesa, a afirmação de que o inglês exerce um papel importante na aprendizagem de alemão pôde ser confirmada, sendo o parentesco etimológico entre as duas línguas um dos mais importantes fatores para se determinar a ocorrência de influência interlinguística. Por outro lado, a interferência linguística resultante da coexistência de ambas as línguas demanda o desenvolvimento de uma didática do plurilinguismo que compreenda métodos alternativos para o ensino/aprendizagem de alemão como segunda língua estrangeira no Brasil.

    Starting from the assertion that there is a separate Austrian Literary Identity (which does not want to be seen as part of German literature, but in opposition to it), the article presents arguments and examples which support this claim. Partindo da premissa de que existe uma identidade literária austríaca (que não se entende como parte da literatura alemã, mas que pretende se diferenciar dela), o artigo apresenta argumentos e exemplos que sustentam a referida argumentação. Ausgehend von der Behauptung, dass es eine eigene österreichische Literaturidentität gibt (die nicht als Teil der deutschen Literatur gesehen wird, sondern sich teilweise klar von dieser abgrenzen will), werden Argumente und Beispiele angeführt, die diese Behauptung stützen.
