    Yoko Tawada ist einer der wichtigsten Namen der deutschen zeitgenössischen Literatur. Ihr literarisches Projekt behandelt Identität durch Verfremdung. Im Werk "Das nackte Auge" geht es um ein junges vietnamesisches Mädchen, dessen Name nicht verraten wird. Aufgrund eines Irrtums mit dem Zug kommt sie in Paris an. Sie spricht kein Französisch und versteht die fremde Umgebung nicht, aber findet in den Filmen, und zwar in den von Catherine Deneuve gespielten Figuren, einen Ort der Zuflucht und Identifikation. Jedes Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit einem Film, dessen Erzählung die Geschichte der Hauptfigur des Romans allmählich beeinflusst. Im ersten Kapitel "Repulsion", eine Anspielung auf den Film von Roman Polanski, kann man schon viele Elemente aus dem filmischen Werk erkennen, die wichtig für die Struktur des Romans sind. Eine solche intermediale Konstruktion wird im Roman vorgestellt, um Fragen über die Identität des Individuums der Gegenwart und seine (nackte) Sicht über die Fremde zu stellen. Yoko Tawada é um dos nomes mais importantes da Literatura Contemporânea. Seu projeto literário trata das questões acerca da identidade através do processo de estranhamento. Em "Das nackte Auge" tem-se uma jovem garota vietnamita, cujo nome nunca é revelado, que, por conta de um engano, desembarca na cidade de Paris. Ela não fala francês e se vê incapaz de compreender o meio estrangeiro que a cerca. No entanto, encontra no cinema, mais especificamente nas personagens de Catherine Deneuve, um local de refúgio e identificação. Cada capítulo trata de um filme cuja narrativa progressivamente se mistura e influencia a narrativa da personagem. Já no primeiro capítulo, "Repulsion", uma referência ao filme de Roman Polanski, pode-se perceber diversos elementos comuns à obra fílmica e de fundamental importância na construção de "Das nackte Auge". Tal construção intermidiática é apresentada com o objetivo de suscitar questões acerca do sujeito contemporâneo e seu olhar (desnudado) sobre o estranho, o estrangeiro.

    "Brother of sleep" ("Schlafes Bruder") is the first novel by the Austrian writer Robert Schneider, published in 1992. It tells the story of a music prodigy, who was born in a small village at the beginning of the nineteenth century. This paper aims to reflect on the series of obstacles that stop the protagonist, Elias Alder, from achieving professional and personal success, given the limitations of the community. The novel condenses modern and post-modern characteristics, such as the identity fragmentation, the irony, the estrangement and the breaking of narrative linearity. "Quem ama não dorme" ("Schlafes Bruder") é o primeiro romance do escritor austríaco Robert Schneider, publicado em 1992. Ele conta a história de um prodígio da música, nascido em um vilarejo no início do século XIX. Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a série de empecilhos que impedem o protagonista, Elias Alder, de alcançar sucesso profissional e pessoal, tendo em vista as limitações da comunidade. O romance condensa características modernas e pós-modernas, como a fragmentação identitária, a ironia, o estranhamento e a quebra da linearidade narrativa.

    Este artigo propõe-se a analisar a trajetória do escritor austríaco Fritz Kalmar e seu conto "Der Austrospinner" ("O austro-louco"), incluído na antologia "Das Herz europaschwer", de 1997, à luz das identidades surgidas no contexto da emancipação e da assimilação judaicas na Áustria. Georg von Winternitz, protagonista desta narrativa, encarna, em seu exílio boliviano, os fundamentos de uma identidade austríaca cultivada na velha Monarquia Habsburga, legatária do Sacro Império Romano Germânico, e organiza sua existência no novo país de acordo com valores éticos e com princípios católicos, humanistas e universalistas, cultivados, sobretudo, por literatos austríacos do fim do século XIX e do início do século XX, que se dedicaram à construção da identidade imperial austríaca. Esse sistema de valores, particularmente caro aos judeus austríacos da época do Kaiser Franz Josef, revela uma surpreendente sobrevida nos Andes bolivianos depois de 1938. Ao adotar um menino indígena que está em vias de tornar-se um ladrão, esse personagem não só pretende educá-lo como, sobretudo, pretende fazer dele "um austríaco", o que significa, para o personagem, nele instilar um sistema de valores vinculado à extinta Áustria imperial. A discussão sobre esse conceito, "o austríaco", presente na literatura austríaca do século XIX e do início do século XX, é trazida à tona para tentar compreender o que se encontra por trás deste projeto. Para além dessa questão surge, ao longo da narrativa, uma alusão ao fato de que tanto o narrador quanto o protagonista da narrativa são descendentes de judeus que também "se tornaram" austríacos. "Tornar-se austríaco", assim, e com isto o conceito de 'gelernter Österreicher', temas inextricavelmente ligados ao processo de emancipação e assimilação judaica na Áustria do século XIX, são questões que ressurgem, de forma distópica e anacrônica, na Bolívia dos anos 1950, na trajetória de Kalmar tanto quanto na de seu personagem. This article analyzes Fritz Kalmar's biography and his short story "Der Austrospinner" in the light of the identities created during the decades of Jewish emancipation in Austria. In his Bolivian exile, Georg von Winternitz, the narrative's protagonist, embodies the fundamental values of an Austrian identity that was conceived during the final years of the Habsburg Monarchy, heir of the Holy Roman Empire, and that was particularly dear to Austrian Jews since the times of Kaiser Franz Josef. After his exile, von Winternitz organizes his existence in the new country according to this Empire's system of values. When he adopts an indigenous boy who is about to become a thief, he not only intends to educate him but also intends to turn him into "an Austrian", which, for him, means instilling in him a system of values belonging to the defunct Austro-Hungarian Empire. The discussion about the meaning of "Austrian" is brought to light, in an attempt to understand von Winternitz's ideals and projects. Both the narrative's protagonist and the narrator descend from Jews who also "became" Austrian, and "becoming Austrian" is a fundamental concept both in Kalmar's personal history and in his books.

    It is our aim to focus on certain aspects of the complex relationship between language – particularly German – and homeland/identity as seen in the work of a number of Jewish poets and authors. Initially we wish to point out this conflicting relationship in the work of Paul Celan and Rose Ausländer, two Jewish poets born in Romania. The examples of Viktor Klemperer and Ruth Klüger emphasize the complexity of this specific characteristic in the biography/work of German authors of Jewish origin. Elias Canetti, the Nobel Laureate born in Bulgaria, is a literary personality whose biography shows the importance of German culture influence in Eastern Europe at the beginning of the Twentieth Century: Canetti considers himself a German poet who belongs to the German-speaking cultural and literary world. ; Die Beispiele von Paul Celan und Rose Ausländer zeigen einige dramatische Aspekte des komplexen Verhältnisses zwischen Sprache und Identität, bzw. zwischen der deutschen Sprache im Dritten Reich und der literarischen Identität beider Dichter jüdischer Herkunft. Viktor Klemperer ist das Beispiel eines assimilierten Juden, der stets sein Deutschtum und seine tiefe Zugehörigkeit zu Deutschland und der deutschen Kultur unterstreicht. Ruth Klüger gehört zu einer späteren Generation, die sich eigentlich heimatlos fühlt, aber auch in der deutschen Sprache eine literarische Heimat findet. Canetti, Nobelpreisträger, ein sephardischer Jude, der in Bulgarien geboren ist, wählt für sich als Kosmopolit, als Mensch und Dichter eine Heimat, wo die deutsche Sprache und Kultur die Grenzen bilden.

    This paper presents an overview of the central arguments of some studies and essays about Austrian literature (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) that are concerned with the existence of a difference between the Austrian and other German language literatures. To illuminate the core points of these discussions, we will compare them to representative arguments about Austrian literature from post-war decades. The aim is to show that contemporary German literature studies in Austria do not dedicate themselves any more to the construction of an "Austrian myth" or to the search of an alleged "essence" of national literature. On the contrary, the construction of an "Austrian myth" has been replaced by analyses of this myth as well as the social and historical contexts that surround the literary production of the country. In spite of the argumentative discrepancies between the different approaches – which are closely aligned with the formation of the Austrian nation -, the continuing insistence on the part of contemporary German literature studies in Austria on the distinctiveness of Austrian literature is interesting to observe. ; In diesem Beitrag werden zentrale Argumente wissenschaftlicher Publikationen und Aufsätze (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) über die österreichische Literatur zusammengefasst und näher beleuchtet, insbesondere jene, die sich auf die Eigenständigkeit der österreichischen Literatur neben anderen Literaturen in deutscher Sprache beziehen. Um diese Debatten in ihren historischen Zusammenhang zu stellen, werden sie mit theoretischen Ansätzen v.a. der Nachkriegszeit verglichen, die sich dem selben Thema widmen. So können wir feststellen, dass sich die jüngere österreichische Germanistik nicht mehr der Konstruktion eines "österreichischen Mythos" widmet, genauso wenig wie der Diskussion über das, was das "Wesen" der österreichischen Literatur ausmachen könnte.     The objective of this text is to analyze the stranger's experience in the novel "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge" by Rainer Maria Rilke through new interpretation perspectives based, for example, on Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theories. Living in a foreign metropolis (Paris), which he does not identify with yet, the novel's protagonist, Malte Laurids Brigge, discovers a new inner world through his shock with stranger's experiences in this environment. The revelation of his childhood memories and his ego projection through readings of narratives by others are his methods to search and assert his identity. ; O objetivo deste texto é analisar a experiência do estranho no romance "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge", de Rainer Maria Rilke, através de novas perspectivas de interpretação apoiadas, por exemplo, nas teorias psicanalíticas de Sigmund Freud. Vivendo em uma cidade estrangeira (Paris), com a qual ainda não se identifica, o protagonista do romance, Malte Laurids Brigge, descobre um mundo interior novo através de seu choque com experiências do estranho nesse milieu. Ele conta a história de um prodígio da música, nascido em um vilarejo no início do século XIX. Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a série de empecilhos que impedem o protagonista, Elias Alder, de alcançar sucesso profissional e pessoal, tendo em vista as limitações da comunidade. O romance condensa características modernas e pós-modernas, como a fragmentação identitária, a ironia, o estranhamento e a quebra da linearidade narrativa. ; "Brother of sleep" ("Schlafes Bruder") is the first novel by the Austrian writer Robert Schneider, published in 1992. It tells the story of a music prodigy, who was born in a small village at the beginning of the nineteenth century. This paper aims to reflect on the series of obstacles that stop the protagonist, Elias Alder, from achieving professional and personal success, given the limitations of the community. The novel condenses modern and post-modern characteristics, such as the identity fragmentation, the irony, the estrangement and the breaking of narrative linearity.

    Yoko Tawada é um dos nomes mais importantes da Literatura Contemporânea. Seu projeto literário trata das questões acerca da identidade através do processo de estranhamento. Em "Das nackte Auge" tem-se uma jovem garota vietnamita, cujo nome nunca é revelado, que, por conta de um engano, desembarca na cidade de Paris. Ela não fala francês e se vê incapaz de compreender o meio estrangeiro que a cerca. No entanto, encontra no cinema, mais especificamente nas personagens de Catherine Deneuve, um local de refúgio e identificação. Cada capítulo trata de um filme cuja narrativa progressivamente se mistura e influencia a narrativa da personagem. Já no primeiro capítulo, "Repulsion", uma referência ao filme de Roman Polanski, pode-se perceber diversos elementos comuns à obra fílmica e de fundamental importância na construção de "Das nackte Auge". Tal construção intermidiática é apresentada com o objetivo de suscitar questões acerca do sujeito contemporâneo e seu olhar (desnudado) sobre o estranho, o estrangeiro. ; Yoko Tawada ist einer der wichtigsten Namen der deutschen zeitgenössischen Literatur. Ihr literarisches Projekt behandelt Identität durch Verfremdung. Im Werk "Das nackte Auge" geht es um ein junges vietnamesisches Mädchen, dessen Name nicht verraten wird. Aufgrund eines Irrtums mit dem Zug kommt sie in Paris an. Sie spricht kein Französisch und versteht die fremde Umgebung nicht, aber findet in den Filmen, und zwar in den von Catherine Deneuve gespielten Figuren, einen Ort der Zuflucht und Identifikation. Jedes Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit einem Film, dessen Erzählung die Geschichte der Hauptfigur des Romans allmählich beeinflusst. Im ersten Kapitel "Repulsion", eine Anspielung auf den Film von Roman Polanski, kann man schon viele Elemente aus dem filmischen Werk erkennen, die wichtig für die Struktur des Romans sind. Eine solche intermediale Konstruktion wird im Roman vorgestellt, um Fragen über die Identität des Individuums der Gegenwart und seine (nackte) Sicht über die Fremde zu stellen.

    We conducted a study of language in the discursive genre family letter analyzing phonic and morphologic peculiarities from the time they were written, as well as the identity of those involved in the interaction (letter producer and recipient). For this article, we selected two letters written by bilingual speakers of German and Portuguese to be analyzed, based on a study concerning the spread of German culture in Brazil, having in mind that these letters reveal many aspects of this process. Furthermore, we reflect upon the outcome of the contact between these two languages. ; Realizamos um estudo da língua de comunicação usada no interior do gênero discursivo "carta familiar" analisando peculiaridades fônicas e morfológicas da linguagem das cartas na época em que foram escritas, bem como da identidade das pessoas envolvidas no processo de interação (autor e receptor da carta). Para este artigo, são analisadas duas cartas escritas por falantes bilíngues de alemão e português, com base em uma reflexão sobre a difusão da cultura germânica no Brasil, tendo em vista serem essas cartas reveladoras desse processo.

    Die Beispiele von Paul Celan und Rose Ausländer zeigen einige dramatische Aspekte des komplexen Verhältnisses zwischen Sprache und Identität, bzw. zwischen der deutschen Sprache im Dritten Reich und der literarischen Identität beider Dichter jüdischer Herkunft. Viktor Klemperer ist das Beispiel eines assimilierten Juden, der stets sein Deutschtum und seine tiefe Zugehörigkeit zu Deutschland und der deutschen Kultur unterstreicht. Ruth Klüger gehört zu einer späteren Generation, die sich eigentlich heimatlos fühlt, aber auch in der deutschen Sprache eine literarische Heimat findet. Canetti, Nobelpreisträger, ein sephardischer Jude, der in Bulgarien geboren ist, wählt für sich als Kosmopolit, als Mensch und Dichter eine Heimat, wo die deutsche Sprache und Kultur die Grenzen bilden. It is our aim to focus on certain aspects of the complex relationship between language – particularly German – and homeland/identity as seen in the work of a number of Jewish poets and authors. Initially we wish to point out this conflicting relationship in the work of Paul Celan and Rose Ausländer, two Jewish poets born in Romania. The examples of Viktor Klemperer and Ruth Klüger emphasize the complexity of this specific characteristic in the biography/work of German authors of Jewish origin. Elias Canetti, the Nobel Laureate born in Bulgaria, is a literary personality whose biography shows the importance of German culture influence in Eastern Europe at the beginning of the Twentieth Century: Canetti considers himself a German poet who belongs to the German-speaking cultural and literary world.

    This article aims to investigate the correlation of thought between three leading names in the second half of the nineteenth century – Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and Hugo von Hofmannsthal – that have addressed the crisis of male identity against the return of matriarchy. Considering the Vienna fin-de-siècle as a backdrop, female is presented here through Electra, a mythical heroine. In Hofmannsthal's homonymous play, she represents not only strengthening as the woman's own destruction. Este artigo tem por objetivo investigar a correlação de pensamento entre três importantes nomes da segunda metade do século XIX – Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud e Hugo von Hofmannsthal – que se debruçaram sobre as crises da identidade masculina frente ao retorno do matriarcado. Tendo a Viena fin-de-siècle como cenário, o feminino é apresentado aqui por intermédio de Electra, que no texto homônimo de Hofmannsthal representa não só o fortalecimento como a própria destruição da mulher.
