    El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar desde un punto de vista contrastivo la aportación de los prefijos, específicamente de tipo ablativo, a distintas clases de verbos en las lenguas clásicas (latín y griego), iberorromances (español, gallego y catalán) y alemán. Partimos de la hipótesis de que existen abundantes confluencias entre los verbos prefijados de dichas lenguas, motivadas no solo por razones etimológicas y de familiaridad, sino también por desempeñar funciones semánticas semejantes. A partir del estudio intralingüístico de los que consideramos sistemas preverbiales y de la comparación interlingüística de verbos prefijados que se encuentran a priori en una relación de equivalencia pretendemos determinar las funciones semánticas y sintácticas atribuibles a estos elementos. Para ello, resumimos los objetivos de nuestro trabajo en los siguientes puntos:(a) Describir las oposiciones semánticas funcionales —en el sentido de Coseriu— de los sistemas preverbiales ablativos en griego antiguo, latín, español, catalán, gallego y alemán, aplicando para ello el mismo marco teórico y metodológico. El fin último de esta descripción persigue entender cómo las lenguas en cuestión organizan el espacio, el tiempo y la estructura interna o eventiva a través de los preverbios ablativos.(b) Establecer patrones semántico-sintácticos a partir de las relaciones de semejanza y diferencia detectadas entre los sistemas preverbiales en interacción con la base verbal.(c) Indagar en los posibles motivos que expliquen las restricciones que presentan determinadas estructuras preverbiales para expresar algunas de las nociones propias de los prefijos ablativos.(d) Estudiar la aportación del preverbio a la estructura argumental indagando en el tipo de relación semántico-sintáctica que se establece o puede establecerse entre las unidades que participan en la estructura argumental.(e) Y, por último, pretendemos determinar la existencia de equivalencias interlingüísticas o su ausencia a partir de un patrón morfológico compartido por todas las unidades,
