|Beschreibung||Graduate Fellowships in Germanic Studies, Indiana University, Bloomington
The Department of Germanic Studies at Indiana University announces five highly competitive and attractive graduate fellowships, partly funded by the Max Kade Foundation. The fellowships offer six years of full support; two of these are ordinarily covered by scholarships, while students receive teaching stipends during the other four years. Most fees and health insurance are paid for. In addition, there is funding for conference travel, summer research, and other projects.
The Department of Germanic Languages has emerged in recent years as one of the strongest in the country, with a large and internationally recognized faculty working in a wide range of fields, spanning modern literature and culture, medieval philology, as well as theoretical linguistics. Besides German, instruction is offered in both modern languages (Yiddish, Dutch, and Norwegian) and ancient languages (Old High German, Middle High German, Gothic, and Old Norse).
Our graduate students join us from all over the world and are drawn from the top pool of applicants. We offer a flexible program that is rigorous enough to train scholars with excellent research and writing skills. Our placement record confirms our own sense: virtually every one of our graduates in the last ten years has secured an academic position.
For more information about the program, please visit our website (www.indiana.edu/~germanic) or contact the director of the Institute of German Studies, Michel Chaouli (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The deadline for applications is January 15, 2007 (Dec. 1, 2006, for international students).
