Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant
Professor level in German. A PhD in German language and literature is
required. Experience in teaching German language, literature and/or
culture courses at the university level is also required. Ability to
teach courses in German Studies, including interdisciplinary courses, is
expected; expertise in 18th and/or 19th Century is desirable. The
successful candidate will be expected to make an important contribution
to further strengthening the research profile and public presence of the
Canadian Centre of German and European Studies, housed at York
University, and to play a key role in the further development of
interdisciplinary German Studies in the European context, in the Faculty
of Arts and the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Native or near-native
fluency in German and English is required.

The successful candidate should be suitable for prompt appointment to
the Faculty of Graduate Studies. All positions at York University are
subject to budgetary approval.
