TitelErasmus Mundus Master's Programme Euroculture
BeschreibungThe Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programme Euroculture is a unique, interdisciplinary and inter-university project in English. Its aim is to prepare graduates from Europe and third countries for professions in which knowledge of present Europe and European Union institutions are of relevance. The focus of the programme is on cultural and social developments: its inheritance as well as its standards, values and citizenship. Because of the multidisciplinary studies approach, the Euroculture programme stands out from many other European Regional Studies programmes.

From the beginning of the programme in 1999, Euroculture was used as a concept to reflect in an interdisciplinary way on the many different expressions and manifestations of self-understandings of societies, social groups and individuals of, about and within Europe.

Within the Euroculture network eight renowned European universities are affiliated, to analyse the cultural dimensions of the European process of integration. Euroculture enables the students an elaborate study of the historical and cultural structure of the European continent.

The Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programme in Euroculture is a three-semester programme, which starts in the winter term. Participants study the first semester in Göttingen, the second semester is to be spent at one of our European partner universities (Universidad de Deusto/Spain, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen/Netherlands, Jagiellonian University Krakow/Poland, Univerzita Palackého v Olomouci/Czech Republic, Uppsala Universitet/Sweden). An Internship or a Research Track in Göttingen or at one of the four non-European partner universities (IUPI Indianapolis/USA, UNAM Mexico City/Mexico, Osaka University/Japan, Pune University/India) is to be accomplished before writing the MA Thesis in the third semester.

Applicants have to have a Bachelor or MA degree in one of the five study courses that are associated with Euroculture (Political Studies, History, Religious Studies, and Philologies) or in another study course which matches the Euroculture programme.
