|Beschreibung||We are currently accepting applications for the PhD program in German Studies at Michigan State University.
Recognized as an AATG German Center of Excellence in 2013 for its innovative approach to both undergraduate and graduate curricula, MSU offers a uniquely integrated vision of humanities doctoral education with an emphasis on the emerging field of Digital Humanities research, supported by new faculty in the German program and cross-departmental DH offerings.
The program prepares students for 21st-century careers in the classroom and beyond, via collaborative DH projects with faculty, study abroad internships, job shadowing in upper-level classes, engagement in MSU’s Community Language School, and other outreach programs. Students will find rich opportunities for coss-disciplinary studies with faculty who nurture ties to Global Studies, Second Language Studies, Jewish Studies, Philosophy, History, Gender Studies, Religious Studies, Film and Media Studies, and Peace and Justice Studies.
This uniquely streamlined program allows students with the BA to complete a PhD in as little as four years in an intensive 12-month model, using a combination of self-paced modules, portfolio-based comprehensive exams, and fully funded summer semesters.
Competitive funding packages are available for suitable candidates that include a combination of fellowship, TAship, RAship, and summer funding. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; however, to be considered for all funding opportunities, please submit completed applications by December 31, 2015.
