UCC invites applications for the position of Lecturer in German. The successful candidate will have a PhD in German Studies, and native or near-native competence in both the German and English language. Preferred areas of expertise include applied critical discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, text linguistics, multilingualism and multiculturalism, migrant literatures, literary translation, literary topographies, ecocriticism. Applicants with academic expertise and a proven track record of research and teaching in areas linking Applied Linguistics and contemporary German culture and literature will be especially welcome. The successful candidate will complement the department’s existing specialisms (see departmental website http://www.ucc.ie/en/german/) and will be expected to develop and deliver innovative courses both for the MA in Applied Linguistics and for students of German at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a range of different areas.
A strong contribution to the research culture of both the Department and the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures will also be required. The successful candidate will participate as appropriate in the normal administrative work of the Department and the School. It is expected that the successful candidate will take over the coordination of the School’s MA in Applied Linguistics
