BeschreibungThe Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at the College of William
& Mary invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable, non-tenure track
position in German Studies beginning August 10, 2015. We are seeking a
colleague with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research with the
ability to attract, motivate, retain, and mentor students. The candidate will
teach beginning and/or Intermediate German Language and a topics course in
German Literature or Cultural Studies of the modern period on a topic of the
candidate’s choosing. Teaching load is six courses per year (3-3).
Required: A Ph.D. is required by time of appointment August 10, 2015 with
specialization in German Language, German Literature or German Culture. The
candidate must have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate Language,
Literature and Culture teaching (including German language courses at all
levels of the undergraduate curriculum). Native or near-native proficiency in
German and English required.

Preferred: Area of specialization is open, interest in 19th century German
Literature and Culture, Contemporary German Literature and Culture or Early
Modern German Literature and Culture is a plus, as is the capability to teach
courses which might be cross-listed with existing interdisciplinary programs
such as Judaic Studies, Women’s Studies, European Studies, and Film and Media
Studies.

date will be considered if needed.

proposed topics course in the candidate’s area of specialization, and three
letters of recommendation, at least one of which must speak directly to
