|Beschreibung||The School of Modern Languages and Cultures, Durham University, seeks to appoint a permanent full-time Lecturer in German from September 2015 who is able to make an outstanding contribution to research and teaching in the field of German Studies. Applications from candidates specialising in the field of mediaeval and early modern studies, visual culture, contemporary studies, or science and culture studies, would be particularly welcome. The School, comprising departments of Arabic, Chinese and Japanese, French, German, Hispanic Studies, Italian, and Russian, and the Centre for Foreign Language Study, is one of the most successful Schools of Modern Languages and Cultures in the UK. It has a strong and characteristic research culture, bringing staff and postgraduates from its constituent departments together in interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations through research groups focusing on Digital Studies, Ecologies and the Arts, Justice and the Arts, Translation and Linguistics, and Transnationalism. These activities are backed by a university-wide research infrastructure which is strategically supportive of interdisciplinary enquiry.
