BeschreibungThe Department of World Languages at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of German, to begin August 2015. With a student body of more than 26,000, the University of Arkansas is a national research institution located in Fayetteville, part of a growing metropolitan area of some 300,000 people. Fayetteville frequently receives accolades as one of America’s “best places” to live.

The department seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in German to enhance our successful and dynamic program in German. Candidates must possess native or near-native fluency in English and German, a record of outstanding undergraduate teaching, an active research program, and the ability to teach advanced literature and culture courses. Experience coordinating basic language courses and interest in participating in our interdisciplinary programs are desirable. Applicants must be willing to teach a broad spectrum of courses and participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities. The normal teaching load is two courses per semester, in addition to service duties within the section. Research specialization is literature and cultural studies from the 1700s to the present; a Ph.D. in German or related field is required in hand by May 31, 2015.
