BeschreibungFellowships for Graduate Study in German Literature, Culture and Theory at the University of Toronto

The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Toronto is the oldest and largest department of German in Canada. In addition to our traditional strength in literary and intellectual history, faculty and students are pursuing research in cinema studies, critical theory, language pedagogy, medieval studies, travel literature, as well as postcolonial, psychoanalytic, and transnational literary studies.

Ph.D. students receive a generous five-year funding package that includes a University of Toronto Fellowship, tuition, incidental fees, and health coverage. Sixth-year students are eligible for a doctoral completion grant. We are also able to fund many students in our one-year MA program with a combination of teaching opportunities and internal fellowships. Please visit our graduate studies page (http://german.utoronto.ca/apply-now-2015-16-graduate-program/) for information on how to apply to our program.
