CFP: Towards a New World Literature
Processes of decolonization and of globalization in the last 40 years have produced a rich body of literature of mobility that explores and reflects on postcolonial and migrant experiences, diasporic, exile, and refugee conditions. Contributions to this panel will focus on significant works written in German about cultural encounters occurring in various parts of the world in order to study key elements, thematic and aesthetic aspects of this new “translocal” or World Literature. Papers are welcome that examine major critical approaches to this literature and discuss theoretical foundations of key concepts: postcolonial criticism, transnationalism, hybridity, creolization, neonomadism, trans-culturation, dispatriation, and cosmopolitics. Also, we invite papers that rethink the phenomenon of world literature and theories of cultural negotiation and translation.

Please submit a brief proposal (250 words) and short bibliographical information by email to by Feb 10, 2014.

Please note two important GSA rules: all panel participants including the commentator and moderator must be a registered GSA member before February 15, 2014. No one individual may give more than one paper or participate in more than two public roles.
