BeschreibungThe Department of German at Colgate University invites applications for a two-year, full-time visiting assistant professor position beginning Fall 2014, with a possibility of extension for a third year. Field of specialization in German literature and cultural studies is open. The teaching load is five courses per year and includes language, literature and culture courses as well as participation in the university-wide interdisciplinary Liberal Arts Core Curriculum and other interdisciplinary programs as appropriate. Candidates should show scholarly promise, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in both language and literature, and native or near-native fluency in German. Completion of Ph.D. in the field of German literature, German Studies or Comparative Literature is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire.

A letter of application, CV, and three letters of reference must be submitted through by December 12, 2013. Review of applications will begin on December 12, 2013, and will continue until the position is filled. Selected applicants will be interviewed at the MLA in Chicago.
