BeschreibungThe Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant or Beginning Associate Professor, starting fall semester 2014. Ph.D. in hand at time of appointment.

Area(s) of specialization: High and/or Late Medieval German literature and culture; candidates are expected to show strong dedication to innovative research in more than one field of inquiry that will result in a substantial publication record. The scholar will participate in the graduate program (including teaching the history of the German language) as well as in the undergraduate program (including language instruction). The successful candidate must also be prepared to develop undergraduate courses that contribute to adjacent interdisciplinary areas such as Comparative Literature; Religious Studies; Jewish Studies; or Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Excellence in teaching and scholarship required; service commitment (e.g., advising students, participating in various departmental obligations, university service) is expected.
