Titel6 fellowships for doctoral study . The Graduate Program in German Literature and Critical Thought at Northwestern University
BeschreibungThe Graduate Program in German Literature and Critical Thought at Northwestern University announces that it will award in March/April 2008 up to 6 fellowships for doctoral study beginning in the following September.

The fellowships offer 5 years of full support, including the payment of tuition, an annual stipend (which came to $19,620 in 2007-08), health insurance, and some miscellaneous fees. During 3 of the 5 years, fellows serve as teaching assistants. In addition, the Department has ample funds to support graduate student attendance at conferences, an active and vibrant colloquium series, and on going exchange programs with several German universities. We are also closely associated with the Northwestern Paris Program
in Critical Theory, directed by Professor Samuel Weber, which offers students additional fellowship aid to spend a year in Paris working on current theoretical topics and pursuing research.

Drawing on its excellent faculty and their diverse specializations, the Department recently has redesigned its curriculum around 6 core seminars, supplemented by 12 elective classes, for a total course requirement of 18 quarter classes over two years. Prospective applicants interested in further details on the curriculum, the scholarly accomplishments of the faculty, and the admissions process are invited to consult the Department's website at www.german.northwestern.edu or further questions to contact Professor Jörg Kreienbrock at j-kreienbrock@northwestern.edu

The deadline for applications is Dec. 31, 2007.
