|Ressourcentyp||Call for Papers|
|Titel||MLA-Panel: Literature and Architecture|
|Beschreibung||129th Annual Convention of the Modern Language Association, Chicago, IL, January 9-12, 2014.
MLA Program arranged by the Division on Literature and Other Arts.
Literature and architecture possess various overlapping theoretical, aesthetic and methodological commonalities, despite their significant differences in, for example, use of media and material. Recent turns in interdisciplinary and cultural studies prompt a reinvestigation of the two arts’ convergences and disparities: what have the pictorial, spatial, affective, sensorial, phenomenological, and other inquiries “done” to the intersection of literature and architecture? How are we to define or redefine connections between literature and architecture in the digital age? What experimental potential rests in their mixing or in their intermedial encounter?
This panel invites papers that explore literature and architecture under the auspices of established and new theoretical, methodological or aesthetic categories, including a “minor architecture” as proposed by Jill Stoner as well as environmental and applied aesthetics or somaesthetics, among other approaches in aesthetics.
Please send abstracts (250 words) and short bios (100 words) to Anke Finger (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Lisa Siraganian (email@example.com) by March 15th. Panelists will be notified by the end of March.
