|Titel||2 Open Rank positions in German Literature, Culture, and Critical Thought, Brown University|
|Beschreibung||Two tenure-track or tenured positions in German Literature, Culture, and Critical Thought
Brown University’s Department of German Studies invites applications for two (2) open-rank tenure-track or tenured professorships to commence July 1, 2013 in German literature, culture, and critical thought of any period. It is our expectation that one of the appointments will be made at the senior level, the other at the junior level. We are looking for outstanding scholars and teachers who complement our existing focus on literary, cultural, and critical theory; aesthetics; and the intersection of literature with other discourses such as philosophy, political theory, music, art history, psychoanalysis, performance studies, and film. Successful candidates will share the Department’s commitment to careful reading, historical depth, sophisticated critical analysis, and innovative comparative perspectives on the rich legacy of German literature, culture, and critical thought. It is also expected that our new colleagues will welcome the opportunity to help build our growing German undergraduate and doctoral programs and to participate broadly in the vibrant intellectual community that characterizes the humanities at Brown. Native or near-native fluency in both German and English is required.
Candidates for a tenure-track junior position (Assistant Professor) should submit a cover letter, CV, article-length writing sample, and three letters of recommendation.
Candidates for a tenured senior position (Associate or Full Professor) should submit a cover letter, CV, article-length writing sample, and the names and contact information of five potential referees. The search committee will contact senior candidates’ referees directly.
Applications should be submitted online at https://secure.interfolio.com/apply/15227.
For logistical questions about submitting an application, you may contact our Academic Coordinator, Ms. Wendy Perelman, at
Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2012, and all applications received by that date will be assured full consideration.
Brown is an EEO/AA employer. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.
