Job description: 

Assistant Professor in Residence of German

The German Section in the Department of Literatures, Cultures and Languages at the University of Connecticut is seeking an Assistant Professor in Residence to participate actively in a vibrant and growing undergraduate and graduate German Studies program, beginning January 2012. Minimum requirements: Native or near-native German proficiency, PhD in hand by January 2012; expertise in 19th through 21st–century German Studies, with documented excellence in teaching courses in the upper-division curriculum (English and German). Additional areas of desired expertise: German film, German for the professions (engineering, business), languages-across-the-curriculum (LAC). An interdisciplinary approach to research and or teaching is desirable, as well as the ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience. Teaching load: 3-3 course load, with some administrative responsibilities. This position is at the main campus in Storrs but incumbents may work at the campuses located at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, and/or any other University location. Salary: $45,000.
