We are seeking an exceptional scholar with an international reputation in any area of German. The Department of German enjoys an excellent reputation, was ranked equal 2nd in the UK in RAE 2008, and has been placed 2nd in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2010. In making this appointment of Professor the University is reaffirming its commitment to international excellence in the field of modern languages.

You will be at the forefront of scholarship in your field, will provide intellectual vision and leadership to take the research agenda of the School forward. You will have an established record of excellence in research and teaching, and will have had success in securing, and plans for the further capture of, research funding. Applications from German native speakers are welcomed, with the expectation that such applicants will also be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
